averagedawg, UGA under the present leadership proves the point you make.

One thing for Gurley or others to run over a few big guys, but there comes a time when it is not the smartest way to play the game. Much easier to get to the second level and play grown man football.

Have read a few comments from all around the internet about Sony Michel being a shifty back that avoids running between the tackles. If you read this post, remember it when Sony is on the field. Much of that comes from those that you have to pay to read. Sony Michel is afraid of nothing, he is a very smart young man with God given talent, and he uses it well. Smart has a place in college football.

Good stuff averagedawg. Your way, short and to the point. :)

Hmmmmm....."avoids running between the tackles". If he thinks he doesn't need to run between the tackles and can out run guys to the corner like he did in HS, he's got a rude awakening. He's never seen speed like he's going to see in the SEC. He had better learn to hit it up between the tackles and then break to the outside in this league.....this isn't HS anymore.

Not quite sure what you are saying in your post wlayton. Getting long in the tooth, sometimes I miss "stuff". :)

Just hope Sony doesn't think he can simply out run the D to the corner like he probably did in HS. Imo he had better learn to hit it up between the tackles then break outside in this league....he just isn't going to out run the SEC D's to the corner.

Henry did that in HS, simply ran around the corner and nobody could tackle him. Guess we all noticed Henry now lowering his pads and hitting it up the middle then breaking to the outside.....like he did against OU.

Just my opinion......caught my eye when you said he didn't like to take it between the tackles.

A little food for thought . . . . Special Teams. Kickoff return team, what if our two deep on the return team were Sony Michel and Isaiah McKenzie. In whose direction do you kick. Out of the endzone would be my answer. Like I said, just a thought.

Break one or two, can change the opponents game plan. richt probably has this figured out already, don't know why I would suggest something different. Different worked for Gus Malzahn and Auburn this season, me thinks.

What the heck, just keep doing it the way we have for 13/14 years.

I probably was not clear enough wlayton, I slip sometimes. What I was trying to say is that he will run it between the tackles, tries to avoid hits but is not afraid to lower his pads. The pay for view cubbies were trying to make it sound as if he is afraid of the middle . . . . not so.

Pulled the paragraph from my post . . . .

College is different for sure, SEC for sure, but all of the greats played in high school at some point.

IC did not like the middle. One hard tackle and he was finished. That shoe does not fit Sony Michel.
