I'm with you, Buc.
Random people I run into are shocked when I express my feelings about Richt.
"He's such a good man."
Well, the truth shall set you free.

averagedawg, once upon a time I wondered why folks in conversation about UGA football like to use as openers, "He's such a good man." Far as I know, that has never been a point of contention between folks that would openly discuss UGA football. What the heck does that have to do with running a D1 football program?

Let's go through some successful D1 programs.

Start with Petrino. Understands college football, beat a mark richt team in Athens the last time we played Arkansas. Had he not fallen off of the motorcycle, probably still be winning games in Arkansas.

Urban Meyer ran one of the lowest grade programs in the SEC ever. If you managed to get into his class of "preferreds" in Gainesville, you played.

Chizik at Auburn, still open to speculation, but if it walks like a duck . . . .

Nick Saban many say has a grey shirt or push back rule that when something better comes along, whatever, release or . . . .

Les Miles, openly said by others that testing is a word that he does not understand. Fox in the hen house. Les Miles did not set the rules, that is up to the universities. Lack of leadership at the Slive level.

Gus Malzahn, worked under or pretended to work under Chizik. Anyone believe that Gus did not know what was going on at Auburn? Anyone doubt that Gus would return?

Here is where this is at. SEC football is not kum ba yada yada yada. College football and especially SEC football comes down to wins and losses.

Supposedly we have a good man, a good man that has years under his "head coaching belt" and where is our program . . . . It is right where the group wants us, 10 wins some years. Disregard the 8 win seasons and worse.

If we want UGA to bury its head in the sand and have stronger and stricter rules for our players, then we are where we are, and that will not move us closer to the National Championship.

If anyone comes to this board and some of the older posters have and say how badly they/we want a Crystal Trophy, it ain't gonna happen under someone that is trying to . . . . get this . . . . get 18 year old young men that understand the ways of a program that is so different from other programs in the SEC, and they will not buy in. Watch those that always have a top 1 or 2 or top 5 class.

Not all about ATL being a transient city, it has become much like this . . . . we (players) will go where we can enjoy the 2 or 3 years before moving on. Think that statement is off of the wall? Check UGA under the present head coach.

You want him, we got him.

sadlerdawg wrote: Buc, obviously, you know I'm in agreement with you. I've "discussed" my "negative" (see truthful) posts with others over the years. I kept hearing how I shouldn't post this or that, and that I was everything from scaring recruits away to being a poor fan to being responsible for the program's decline, and maybe even responsible for Kennedy's assassination.
Point is, like you said, truth is truth and if folks don't like seeing it, don't read my posts. Some say the glass is half full (optimist), others the glass is half empty (pessimist), I say the glass is a half pint (realist, fact stater).

sadlerdawg, started my post #13 before coming back to see that you had posted. I can and will call one or two names that chased you around this board with the things you mentioned above. They walk on both sides of the fence. One in particular that never started a thread, just liked jumping on what you had said. That goes back a ways, but that also is the truth, and you and I know of what I speak.

Have had a belly full of the "pretenders".

Like you, don't need anyone to scratch my back. Brother, I want to see UGA playing football on "another level".

Actually sadlerdawg, I am in agreement with you. I tried the other way, did not like the taste of BS.

Buc, nothing else needs to be said...spot on.

BTW, I wouldn't even go so far as having to explain yourself. Perfect way to post.

Shannon, you know how I feel.

Not going to be put down by those that want to "bark" during the season and then move off center each and every year when some "small change" comes about.

Don't know if Pruitt is a "small change", but I certainly hope that he is "all that".

One thing for sure, Jeremy Pruitt is not coming into a program that is devoid of defensive talent, or offensive talent for that matter.

Only missing part is leadership, and not that long ago, most that are not posting were saying the same things recently.

Like the talent on the defense, like the talent on the offense (for the most part). Just need someone to as some others have said on this board . . . . stay the hell out of the way. See what Mike Bobo can do without interference and the same for Jeremy Pruitt.

Let's do something "different". Let's give all of the players an equal chance to perform.

Reading many sites, one would think that the incoming recruits will take over most of the starting positions in Athens. Just media BS. Sell those sites, make that jack. "Suckers" are born every minute, so I guess many here and elsewhere fit in that category.

You mentioned leadership. That is missing now. CMR is not a "bad" x's and o's man; he is not a "bad" evaluator of talent; he is not a "bad" representtative of the university.

What he is is a bad leader of men into battle on saturdays.

Heck, that doesn't make him a bad guy. Hell, I may be a bad leader of men and I happen to think I'm a decent guy.

Spot on with this Buc.

ESPN class rankings:

1
Alabama

2
Texas A&M

3
Florida State

4
LSU

5
Tennessee

6
Ohio State

7
Florida

8
Miami (FL)

9
Auburn

10
Georgia

6 other SEC schools are getting the higher ranked players with the Tide leading the way with SIX ***** players. With 5 of the 6 SEC schools winning the crystal in the BCS era. TAM being the exception and if they keep recruiting the way they do and now having a foothold in SEC country, it will not be long before they also will be sporting the crystal trophy around campus. So what is wrong with this picture? It has been said that cmr and all have been great recruiters, now we will see just how much it will change with the new coaches on board.

It still strikes me that 5 of the 6 SEC schools have won a NC and we have not in the BCS era. The only thing different about it is the Vols have not won a RECENT one but 4 others have and multiple ones at that, and UGA recruits well.

Seems you are spot on but is it the program itself or the coaching of said program. Think it is the latter...
