So on the press conference videos posted in this thread, took another look at both richt and Pruitt's faces when asked about retaining current coaches. richt made his remarks but the look on Pruitt's face was one that says a lot about the defensive coordinator.
Pruitt is not about BS. May not be my business, but I would guess that richt and Pruitt knew that the other coaches were leaving. It was simply an open ended political comment from richt. With all of the up beat press at the moment, did not want to put a damper on what was really happening. richt did not lie, he just evaded what he already knew.
Concensus is that todd grantham needed to leave. Still a bit befuddled with the other coaches leaving. Incoming coaches normally always release folks and bring in their guys. Pruitt knew, did the right thing for the moment and watched richt do his thing.
All I am trying to say here is this . . . . Pruitt is not going to step away from "situations" as has been done for far too long under mark richt. Don't have to go into details, much or most of that has been said in this thread and others. Nick Saban apparently has respect for Pruitt, same respect he had for McCarron. Thinking about McCarron walking into Saban's office and confronting "the man". There is talk that some of that happened with Pruitt and "the man".
Would not be surprised to see another "high school" coach get introduced to the staff. Thought has crossed my mind. By doing that Pruitt does not have to put up with those that have been there and done that. Georgia needed a clean sweep, did not get it. Hoping to see many changes that will correct what has been lacking in Athens.
mark richt is still using "his party line". Take care of the kids, promises to Moms and Dads and Grandmothers and Grandfathers, maybe even Uncles and Aunts, Brothers and Sisters. That is ok, but as has been said on this board, that was not the reason for him wearing the head coaches hat.
Regardless of the stricter rules at Georgia, richt does not have a good record with several young folks that moved to Athens. For example, calling one player out . . . . IC. richt camped out trying to get that young man, did he really believe he was getting a saint? Many of these young men come to play SEC football for one reason, a chance to go to the NFL. Many of these young players have grown up hard and some played hard in the streets. It is a life that many know, some embrace.
Again, mark richt, get out of the way as Bobby Bowden did, stand or walk along the sideline doing your "make believe". Cross your fingers that Pruitt can work a small miracle for you and mcgarity. Much depends on this hire.
