There is still a lot of talk on the internet, and including the talking heads that make me wonder just how much some folks really understand about quarterbacking in the NFL, or any place else quite frankly.

Seems that some still believe you have to be a giant height wise to play the position in the NFL.

Same thing was being said not that long ago on this board and others that AM was too "short". AM was probably the best recruit signing that this current group of coaches have made since arriving in Athens. Based on productivity.

There are athletes that get an awful lot of publicity, but have they lasted as long, played any harder than AM and produced more?

Time for some to stop the garbage talk and understand just how important it is for a NFL quarterback to have a "brain". Understanding the playbook is a hell of a lot tougher than making that 20 yard throw. Many a physically talented college quarterback has failed, even though they could air one out 70 or so yards.

Will bet this . . . . AM will go to the pros, my guess is New Orleans. Seattle is not the only team that has a "shorty" playing the position. Could land any number of places and at some point, will get on the field and do well.

Too much "hype" often enters the gray matter of those that "think" they understand football. JMHO.

It's not much different than advanced metrics in baseball... Everyone has always looked for a better way
to evaluate talent. In baseball they now use sabermetrics... complicated mathematical formulas that supposedly
calculate WAR (Wins above replacement), and that hardly anyone understands.

In the NFL... they have the lovely combine and the Wonderlic test. The Wonderlic measures the brains, and they evaluate the physical stuff at the combine. Every position has it's standards... LB's should be between this and that height. People need to be able to jump a specific height or distance to grade out well. Speed has to be this..

That's all fine and dandy... except that it doesn't take into consideration intangibles. Human beings are not machines... our performance ability can not be wholly measured this way. Drew Brees has intangibles that
break the equations.... I think AM has them as well. It's a question of opportunity meeting AM at the right time.
Someone just has to be willing to take the chance.

Fear not Wartdawg. There are "serious" backers of AM in the coming draft.

Glad to see you bring up "intangibles". Have never been exposed to a formula that could handle or "explain" intangibles.

Watched a NFL game this past weekend that a team had a "supposed" 5'8" running back that no one in the NFL thought could play with the big boys.

Too damn much money involved with college football, especially D1 football. That is real. Handful of folks in "every conference" that "control" what portion of the "intangibles" you and I get to see. Makes no difference what the input, we pay, they "coach"(?) . . . . everything remains the same.

Hard for me to get a grip on those that are so vocal, especially AJC and others that could care less about "intangibiles". What they are looking for is "job security" and at what cost, they could care less. Maybe that explains what college football has come to . . . . "job security".

One damn thing for sure . . . . mark richt and his group are "job secure". Watch this unfold right before our eyes. M&M will run the "entire" show and the only changes we will see will be the same thing that is now being exposed in Washington, D.C. . . . . it will cost most of us more. mark richt, just how damn much do Black Jerseys cost? You had better understand this . . . . you could do that yourself. Lot tougher when money moves in the opposite direction, right? Don't think I like mark richt anymore. Sooner or later we understand just how much some like to keep what they have. JMHO. Not going to be "humble" too much longer. I recognize but don't accept BS from richt anymore.

Ok, so we talk about football games on Saturday, year of 2013.

Here is another quarterback that dressed out at 6' with his cleats on. Now resides in the NFL Hall of Fame.

I was around, Fran Tarkenton was allowed to "scramble". That was his game. Fran the Man did not come close to AM. I have watched both, AM is far past Fran Tarkenton when it comes to talent.

Norm Van Brocklin could not stand him. Norm was a pocket passer man. Tough Eagle.
