EVERY...and I mean EVERY truly successful person... those who reach the highest heights... ALL of them will tell you that you can't be afraid of failing. If you want to "go there" then you have to be willing to take chances, and you might even fail several times
before you make it.
Whenever I hear anyone say they want to keep MR or anyone on this staff because we might do worse when we replace them... I just want to tell them to grow a pair. If they want to keep them, then find a better reason than fear of trying to do better when you know "better"
is a legit possibility.

I know, and while I don't mean to sound insulting to anyone... I feel strongly that if you think that way then you will never
achieve greatness, and I don't want our program having a philosophy of settling for good because they are scared to dare to be great.

STATUS QUO
That is a great reference to this group of coaches also. How many times have we seen them in games call plays not to lose instead of going all in to win. Would have been able to handle this last lose better if we blitzed on 4 and 18 and got beat than giving him all day to throw up a ball that was lucked up and caught.

DAWGtm, just finished watching richt's conference, and truthfully they did not know what they were going to do at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Tony Barnhart was on Tim Brando's show on Monday or Tuesday, could not believe some of the things that he said concerning the game against Auburn. He said to Tim that the coaches, including mark richt had told the players to knock the ball down. Said the players were told 20 times or more.
Barnhart being a UGA grad needs to get his facts straight. Then again, he was one of the AJC select beat writers for a long time. Something happens to those folks when they work for the AJC, seem to have a hard time getting facts right.
richt said straight out that he nor the coaches told the players to knock the ball down while in the time out. As has been said, in this thread, some things you do in situations like the sideline huddle preparing for what might happen. From where I sit and will say it again, Josh Harvey-Clemons was trying to knock the ball down, appeared to me that Tray Matthews was trying to intercept. Will watch the video again, but I think that is correct. Either way, coaching was missing on that series of plays.
So what's new? Watched richt's latest press conference . . . . laid back, does not have a care in the world. Often has a problem "understanding" what the beat writers are asking. Watch the video if you have not, see if I am off base.

Tend to agree with you Buc JH-C was trying to knock it down, but TM had POSITION to make the intercept if JH-C had not come in to the play. Fluke play that just did not go our way. Cover guys are taught to go to the ball and make the play and gain POSESSION.
Coaches should have STRESSED during the time out to KNOCK IT DOWN which richt or grantham did not do......so it falls on them end of story.
