Comment on recruting set the wheels in motion sadlerdawg.
I have in my vault posts that say this . . . . if we lose or dismiss richt, then our program will bottom out. That is one of those grin and bear it statements coming from many that choose to hang on by their finger nails. Those are the folks that are satisfied with 9-3 8-4 and a trip to Atlanta.
Gave up on richt big time just prior to the hiring of grantham, as did many on this board. Had my flame thrower out and used it.
I slipped when grantham was hired, thought maybe there was a chance that our program had made a "right" move. Got behind the entire group of coaches and often said I like stability.
Where is the stability other than bodies in place and records remain the same prior to grantham and company being hired to make us whole . . . . Puts us squarely in the position we supposedly left after releasing Willie. Personally tired of "next season" talk. Too many seasons in this regime look the same to me.
As far as recruiting . . . . bring Kirby Smart in and let us see if the recruiting will fall off. Bring Kirby Smart in and the 9-3 8-4 will disappear quickly.
Some are issued business cards with head coach printed on them. Some do not deserve that 3 1/2" x 2" card. richt trying to act like the bigger man taking the responsibility for the "pass play" gone bad. Where has he been in other situations that needed explanations, but were never given. Smells to the roof tops. Wears the same hat in practice that Bobby Bowden wore. It is what it is.
Same "stuff" going on in Athens since Walker won the National Championship. One would think that a correction could have been made with better results in over 30 years. Stuck until 2017 at least, and who knows, we will probably continue to follow the same system that meets the approval of Mahogany Row.
Erk, good move starting a football program at Georgia Southern. Shows what can be done by someone that first off "cares" and secondly "understands". Erk left the Athens campus with this . . . . "Junkyard Dawgs". What did VD leave us with . . . . a long list of failures when he had a business card that read . . . . Athletic Director.
