I was talking with my tennis partner a couple of years ago about Richt and whether or not he was the man to take us to the next level.
Now this fellow isn't just an alum and supporter... he's a big dollar booster, so he has provided me some interesting insight on
some things that go on at the big booster level.
He told me something that I will never forget. He said as long as Richt (or any UGA coach) owns Tech, beats UT fairly regularly, and
can play even with UF.... that coach will never be fired from the UGA job no matter what else happens. Basically he was saying that 9-3
type records were good enough for many of the older big boosters as long as we usually beat Tennessee, compete 50/50 with Florida, and pretty much always dominate Tech.
I'm not saying it's true... just saying what I was told.
Think what your tennis partner said to you holds water. There is still that "click" in Athens that seems to be led rather than leading. Not just the coaches.
This is how the Bull Gator system works in Florida.

Or I guess if you're a good man, you only need 2 out of those 3 since richt is nowhere near 50/50 with FU.
The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Yeah but right now today, he is in the series driving seat after 2 straight.
He lost all of them from 2000-2003, but then we were still in the honeymoon period with Richt and the program was surging upward regardless.
Beginning with the 2004 game we are 4-5 in the past 9. One of those 5 losses came in a year when won the SEC (05), one was in a rebuilding year in which the boosters seemingly gave Richt a pass.
Plus Richt followed Goff and Donnan who couldn't beat UF at all.
God Bless and Go Dawgs
