I was talking with my tennis partner a couple of years ago about Richt and whether or not he was the man to take us to the next level.
Now this fellow isn't just an alum and supporter... he's a big dollar booster, so he has provided me some interesting insight on
some things that go on at the big booster level.
He told me something that I will never forget. He said as long as Richt (or any UGA coach) owns Tech, beats UT fairly regularly, and
can play even with UF.... that coach will never be fired from the UGA job no matter what else happens. Basically he was saying that 9-3
type records were good enough for many of the older big boosters as long as we usually beat Tennessee, compete 50/50 with Florida, and pretty much always dominate Tech.
I'm not saying it's true... just saying what I was told.
