The Off-Week next up UGA/FLA thread. was created by Wartdawg
What has passed is past, and there's not a lot any of us can do about it.
Decisions that need to be made are above our pay scale, and we can't keep on
forever.
In times like these, the best we can do is reduce the season to individual games and let each of them from
here on out become our "season".
First up we have Off-Week, and we know they are going to throw all over us....but please, please can we just
keep them from blocking a punt?
Actually the off-week is an opponent, and the opponent is ourselves. We've got demons to exorcise, and hurdles
we need to clear on our practice field. We must do these things because after the off-week, we see the hated
University of Florida Reptiles.
I am old enough to remember the years where we dominated them, and everyone here is old enough to remember the
years where they dominated us. The worm has sort of turned again, but it's not going to be as easy as we once
thought although we will see the return of Gurley. Honestly... that scares me a bit and here's why. I don't
want this coaching staff to hang everything on his return, and think just his presence on the field will assure
success. It may, but we can't make that assumption and continue to forget that we have TE's and FB's on our roster,
and last I checked they are a part of the offense allowed to touch the ball.
On defense, we've got a team that can't defend the pass against a team with no consistent passing game. Can we
make Tyler Murphy look like Johnny Manziel... who knows? It's entirely possible. In a battle of ineptitude..
anything can happen and probably will.
So this thread is for all things UGA/UF. All we have left is individual battles. Memories of the rivalry and
thoughts on the game... put them down.

Wartdawg, reading some of Muschamp's comments during the off week. He is up in arms and understands that JAX and the Dawgs will play a huge part in his success or failure in the near term.
Muschamp has called his offensive coaches in from the recruiting trail, trying to get something going against the Hated Dawgs.
“I’m a competitor. I’m going to fight my ass off,” coach Will Muschamp told reporters after Florida's 36-17 loss to Missouri this past weekend. “That’s what you do. When you get your back against the wall, you fight your ass off and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Wartdawg, still confused about the fullback, tightend thingy . . . .
Seems that I have heard this said in Athens . . . .
"We just have coach our guys up better, put them in better situations to play faster," Muschamp said. "When you struggle, you need to go back to technique and fundamentals, and you need to simplify to get our players to play faster and play with more confidence."
One plus for Muschamp . . . . if he fails as a head coach in Gainesville, he will be employed by a top team the next day to run their defense. FACT. Not sure the same thing could or would be said about a defensive coach in Athens. JMO.

Think about it much and it will make you dizzy. We are down weapons... a lot. We have two very capable tight ends and a beast at fullback.
Those are really viable weapons, and certainly enough to take the load off of Wooten and Conley. It's bizarre that they were not utilized
more. No way do I believe the opponents are scheming all that away. Wooten and Conley are not freshmen either.. they've got experience and
have both made big plays for this team in the past. You can't take away the TE, FB, TB and two pretty good receivers as well.. and maybe even a QB that is capable of running a bit. We still had weapons the past couple of weeks, and with the return of Bennett we have more depending on Conley. The key is utilizing those weapons and not seemingly muzzling your own horses.
Move players around to create match-ups..utilize all you have from every eligible position. I hope to see it next week.
God Bless and Go Dawgs

Wart Thanks for starting this thread AM has had 3 weeks to get adjusted to what he has
To work with IMO what was a very good offense gets back to being a good offense
Storyline on defense and ST's Don't stink it up so bad that we need a 4th qtr game saving
Drive AM and crew wins number 3 Go Dawgs

Both teams are banged up. Can put all of that behind us, coaches will pp and moan all week, both head coaches. Simple fact remains, this is Georgia/Florida in JAX.
This is a game that our offensive line has to make some serious noise. Florida is wounded, lost their best defensive player. Will be hard to throw on, have good defensive back and safety play.
Just another reason for the offensive line to move some folks and use our big backs of which we have three with Gurley returning.
Wartdawg you are spot on with this comment . . . . You can't take away the TE, FB, TB and two pretty good receivers as well.. and maybe even a QB that is capable of running a bit.
Living in Florida, I get their game replays every week. They have a lot of speed on the defense and they will hit you. Hoping we see a lot of power football in JAX.
