Not going to read all this but I can only imagine how much rationalizing is going on to cover Richts continued mediocrity.

Heh, don't worry. I'm going to drop some realistic future propositions in this thread.

This game against Vandy is going to be close. If we are still floating with injuries/half strength players, Vandy will probably win. Vandy has always played us aggressively and if we are down, expect a loss.

I'm 90% on this future proposition. I honestly think Mark Richt is going to retire after this year. He knows next year, through lack of future preparation and depth, that this team will have yet another rebuilding (Cox hint hint) year. The tears that dropped down from his face after the LSU game was more of a sign of relief and that this season may be the one for him and the ultimate swan song. You can see him in a tired state, and what looked like our common President after their four year term. If you think we grow tired of this roller coaster, Richt takes it in full and in my mind, there is no way one man can continue down this path. The man's feet are riddled with scars from all the burn marks created from his semi-permanent residency in the hot seat. There are internal fights with other coaches and teams like Texas A&M and Missouri will start to pull from our recruiting, as many other teams have done so already. There is a sense of destabilization of what could only be seen as a falling CEO of one of Georgia's largest businesses. It would be insane to ride this roller coaster into the ground. Instead, Richt will leave with a respectable legacy, something that coaches like Lane Kiffen could have only dreamed for at this point. It takes guts to leave and cowardice to stay. If he does retire after this year, I will give him the respect that he deserves. If he hangs on, then I can only see him as a coward only attracted to the money with little care for this program. Only time will tell at this point.

I think calling him a coward if he stays is a wee bit harsh.

We've heard this before. When Richt started 0-2.... everyone just knew he was going to retire and go be a missionary.

It didn't happen then and I don't think it will happen now barring some sort of complete implosion and incredible turmoil within the program that just doesn't exist at this moment.

Don't see CMR going anywhere soon. He will coach at UGA until he is unwanted in the program ... much like what is happening to Mack Brown at Texas, what happened to Bobby Bowden at FL St and Phillip Fulmer at UT.

Regarding the secondary title thing...

I won't rag on Richt for saying the SEC crown is his goal every year.

I am sure that his goal is to win every game. No doubt at all.

Plus there has always been a sense that the NC as it stands today has always been a bit political.. sometimes very controversial, and really out of a teams control to a degree. The one thing that a team can control 100% is to win the SEC. That is decided on the field, and no where else. Never in the back room at Disney.

Anyway... that's just humble Richtspeak, and I don't think he shoots for just a secondary title.

EXACTLY.....well said WD

Wee bit harsh???.....VERY harsh and unacceptable imo....Rdawg, you don't know anything about CMR, certainly not enough to call him a coward....ridiculous.

And btw, imo, CMR is not staying at UGA for the money, he doesn't need it.
