I'm afraid that our defense just hasn't come around yet. This past weekend told me nothing. North Texas was a nice little scrimmage. Their one TD pass was just an awesome play, but other than that we really didn't learn much. We already knew that our Special Ed Teams are possibly - just MAYBE - the worst in D1 football, so those blow ups, I hate to say it, really didn't surprise me. I envision ST practice sounding something like this:
"Remember to stay in your lanes". Or maybe just "go get him", because we DIDN'T remember to stay in our lanes. And when we were punting, it must have sounded like "WATCH OUT!", or maybe just "UH-OH", because I didn't count how many guys were in the punters face. I think we may be lucky if our Special Ed Teams don't cost us at least 7. <sarcasm warning> But I'm sure glad we don't have a special teams coach, since ST play really isn't that important. <end sarcasm>
No doubt Miles will hand it off a lot. They have a FB just like Quayvon, so why not?
If they stuff our run game, let's get KM outside in the flat catching some passes, neutralize a stout D-Line. Also, use QH . . . make them PAY.
One last thing of positive note - unlike last year, I think I'm seeing a lot of rookie mistakes out there, but not a lack of effort like we saw this time last year. That gives me hope.
