Wartdawg, you are certainly right about the zone blitz, is used differently, any number of ways to zone blitz. My take on this particular call was when and where it was called. That was, using a term and trying to stay clean, Ball$y.
When two teams are close personnel wise, or coaching wise, the call Venable made shows a man not only confident in himself as a coach, confident in his players ability to perform under pressure. There was pressure at that point on both teams to step up and do "something". Venable did.
We had pressure to score with a first and five for a touchdown. We also had pressure to make a snap for a field goal. Some can handle the pressure, others can't. Tomorrow, there will be a time for not only the players to perform under pressure, our coaches will have decisions to make. I for one will watch every snap.
This might be the last thing I say prior to the "Game". (Might) . . . .
All I want for Christmas is not my two front teeth, willing to lose the teeth. What I am trying to say is this . . . . If we win, several happy campers or Dawgs in this home. If we lose, my only wish is that we don't give up as we did in Columbia and on this board. If the entire team plays to their ability, leave it on the field, can't ask for more.
If coaching is the reason that we don't win and it is obvious, has to be obvious, not chatter from the peanut gallery, then there will be a lot of questions and probably a lot of "answers" as to why we lost.
Many out here in the "real world" have played football and coached at different levels, not going back to Mark Richt's statement some years back. Will leave that comment alone. Word TEAM continues to be used every place I look, we will see.
I believe that we win, and the score might surprise many of us. Still in the bag for Duck. Have read every word that Duck has typed on this board, not a bigger supporter of Georgia than the Duck man. Might even give him a "shot" across the bow after we take care of "business" between the "Hedges".
Do I believe that JHC will make a difference? Last time I looked, that was the reason that Nick Saban and every college in the nation wanted him. Have to be real. Ten others on his side of the ball that make up a TEAM.
This Georgia supporter believes.
Never meant this statement more than now . . . . Go Dawgs, coach'em up!
