Geez thriller.....if I'm drooling all over my keyboard, just think how many keyboards AM and his receivers have ruined after reading that article.

"Lot of talk about D being less than last year. To my recollection D, at times last year, did not look good. Personally would rather have solid unit top to bottom than unit with a couple superstars."

In the AP poll, we had one writer from LSU territory who gave us our single vote for #1 in the land.

When asked why he gave UGA the #1 spot, he responded with this (paraphrased):

Quite frankly I'm surprised more people didn't give UGA a #1 vote. They were an eyelash away from winning it all last season, and they are returning most of the starters from one of the most prolific offenses in the nation.
(now here's the important part) I think it's good that they don't return many from that defense. Sometimes it's better when you don't return players from a bad unit, you know?

I've agreed with that this entire off season. I'm a little concerned about the secondary depth, but yeah...
our D wasn't exactly dominating last year, so some new blood on that side has me more excited than I am
worried.

Nobody knows this situation better than the players. Here is what a couple of defensive players have said recently:

Other players on the defense expressed optimism about the health of the secondary. Senior defensive end Garrison Smith pointed to senior walk-on Connor Norman as someone "who can play everything on this defense," and said the injury situation is largely precautionary.

"Guys are coming back every day," Smith said. "I think it's really more of a preventive thing that guys are out, rather than an injury thing. I don't think it's that they're injured to where they can't play. I think they're just trying to make sure they're 100 percent before they're all the way back."

"I feel like our guys are gonna be back soon," outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins said. "I don't think anybody needs to worry about that."

I'm taking their word for that. Sure would be nice for those guys to get some quality reps in, though.
