Injuries in the Secondary

thriller this is what picks my spirits up. The link below is from a "pay site" so guessing that not all get to read this.

Complete and unabashed truth about Gurley. DWS, said earlier that Gurley has him primed and ready to go. Know this, after reading what I think I already knew . . . . Clemson has its hands full and I am also primed and ready to watch Gurley work his magic.

With JTII's S&C program, have to believe that the offensive line is strong, and maybe carrying an attitude. More and more it looks like Kublanow is going to get a "lot" of activity on the field. Have liked Kublanow from the beginning, he has that "edge".

ogredawg had mentioned it sometime back I think, and same can be said about AllDawgs5 and others. We don't drop the ball either running or passing, have to go along with ogredawg's numbers. Maybe win by 20. Again know all of us will like getting out with a W.

Do I think that we have a quarterback that will put team ahead of himself, not a doubt in my mind. I do not think AM would for a minute hate handing the ball off and not throwing a pass if it means winning. I believe that.

thriller, I mentioned earlier that Richt started to say something and shut it down. It is about AM running to daylight. He will do that this season and he will get down. AM knows that this group needs his leadership. AM will back the linebackers and defensive backs up early, lock the defensive line in to playing the run. Whatcha gonna do? Someone on here said it . . . . "Pick Your Poison".

Haven't mentioned tightends again. Wow! Quayvon Hicks punched the football into the end zone twice I think in our scrimmage last night, now folks have to worry about the fullback also . . . . Wow!

Still with you on Marshall, can't clear my mind totally when I recount what you said a while back and then again in the last few days. 220 pounds of muscle and speed looking you in the face . . . . that is when tackling hurts. Pad level counts here. You played defensive back in high school, you understand that for sure. Don't believe arm and shoulder tackling stops Marshall. What I really want to see out of Marshall is the ability to keep his feet when getting hit low. Last season seems he was tripped a lot, that can come from not getting the knees high enough. Who the hell am I to be instructing one of the best backs in the country on how to run? Watch your step Buc . . . .

Even harder than normal for me to shut up, juices are flowing. Just like DWS, having a hard time controlling the butterflies. Clemson, we will show up. :)

Buc, you and I (and a bunch of others on this board) are starting to get JUICED for the season to start.

I heard the part about AM maybe posing a little more of a run threat - they took that out of him, I think they have "re-installed" it. And Quayvon scoring two TDs? You know the D knew that was coming - but how do you stop 260 pounds with a head of steam?! I don't think we'll be disappointed many times in short yardage situations. Also noted that Merritt Hall caught a pass or two . . . fullbacks not only scoring TDs, but catching passes. TEs scoring TDs and getting big yards.

We already knew about Gurley - I doubt if they have taken any real chances with him - you know the D has been mindful of numbers 3 and 4. (I wouldn't want to be the guy who tears one of their ACLs.) But then J.J. Green is getting reps in practice, and sounds like the real deal. We may just have THREE backs back there. And now we're hearing about AM possibly getting his wheels back? How do you defend this offense, Buc? Seriously - draw some x's and o's and do the math - someone out there on that field is going to have their HANDS full.

You called it right about Marshall getting tripped a lot last year, and needing to play with his pads down. However, I think he'll do just that this year. I'm a big believer in Keith Marshall - he made me a believer LAST year (averaged over 6 ypc on the season - that's two carries - first down). He also played a little dinged up - I think it will all come together for him this year. Reggie Bush with pop behind his pads.

I'm also thinking our D is going to play with intensity from the word go. Remember what Shawn Williams said after the Kentucky game? Too soft! I don't think any of these guys wants to hear that kind of talk this year. I don't think we'll play "too soft". We'll make mistakes in the first game - LOTS of penalties, no doubt. But I don't envision soft play.

Almost in the home stretch now. Getting close to the one week mark.

Coach 'em up. GATA!!!!

One thing that you and I know . . . . there were defensive members that had to be called to task. After Jenkins had picked up his grab bag and left, the defense had to be called to task in Orlando. Did not have anything to do with 275 pounds of . . . . what? I watched Jarvis Jones crawl all over the defense, what happened? Fourth quarter they played. That will not happen this season. These pups watched from the "sidelines" knowing that they could be on the field and play.

I might have to eat my words, but this group will play their hearts out. Also don't say that because we have lost "all that". We lost JJ and AO and some others. No way this group won't play above what I watched last season. The defense came back last year "knowing" at some point that Garner was leaving. Those are things that we are not allowed to hear.

How do I truly feel about this group? They don't "strut" and they also don't BS the interviews that they are "allowed" to give.

Back to the positive. JJ Green appears to be "all that". My guess is that he is returning kickoffs, maybe punts. Green has special talents, he has "wiggle" and "strength". My guess is that we will see moves from this young man that reinforces our belief that we have taken another step up the ladder. Special Teams are just that . . . .Special.

Anyone enjoy watching Gurley take it back last season? Green will do that . . . . more than once. I said that. If I was a betting man, would bet he does it against Clemson. I said that, also.

If South Carolina, not if, they will see AM move out of the pocket for yardage. They have a quarterback that has hurt us on more than one occasion doing just that. If that does not make Clowney take a look, we are home free.

Sorry, did not mean to leave Clemson, just have serious thoughts about winning one for Duck.

Really hope that we get a game called fairly. Call here or there could change many things. Anyone that attended the game in Orlando and watched Mark Richt crawl all over one official, which he should have done, bad call, tells me that Richt has had enough of the good guy stuff. Richt signed a short contract knowing that he has x number of years to . . . . you folks can finish that statement.

Buc, you took one of my points and improved on it . . .

How many people remember the preseason over/under on the points last year's defense would give up per game? The number, by the way, was "10". Even CTG was surprised to hear that, but said it was a good goal. We fell just a LITTLE shy. Buffalo DOUBLED that number. That defense, loaded with NFL talent, disappointed us AT BEST until the Kentucky game, and was at its worst in the bloodletting we suffered in Columbia. Shawn Williams finally spoke the truth (in public!) just before the Florida game, and it's a good thing, too. Even so, teams were able to run against us at will last year. Jarvis Jones little "pep talk" against Nebraska happened because it NEEDED to. And after that, the Huskers did nothing. Proof of attitude?

I will believe in this years defense until they prove me wrong - which I hope doesn't happen on the first series.

Seriously - I think the fact that a lot of guys will still be competing for a starting spot DURING the Climpsn game will help us, not hurt us.

I am going to have to ask you guys to stop talking about utilizing the FB as
the 5th weapon.

All this talk of FB dives at the goal line, Hall catching passes.... It's too
early in the morning for me to endure that kind of excitement.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Right off the get go, believe that Grantham will have his troops playing their positions. That also did not happen last year, even after everyone returned. As has been said, there were a few that were looking to impress the NFL and not maintaining their gap responsibilities.

Believe that we want Tajh to throw the football, make him throw the football. That happens, going to be a long night for Clemson. Force Tajh to make decisions, quick decisions. Comes with pressure, but keep him inside. Outside the pocket with his track shoes on, that is a problem.
