Don't know of course how many of you on this board have read the following Buck Belue point of view.

Sounds like he is trying to instruct our coaches on how to play football. Maybe just me, but why would Buck Belue believe that he is capable of anything more than being an average fan. He played, but had Walker on the field with him.

Do like the fact that Buck talks about running the football. Hell, who can't run the football against Kentucky. It bothers me a bit that he did not say this prior to the South Carolina game.

Buck Belue said:
Sounds like the focus on offense is to get back to running the football, with Gurley, Marshall and Malcome. Gates and Theus can handle that assignment...asking them to handle speed-rushing defensive ends in pass protection isn't their thing. Got to run it. Downhill.
However, that will be a challenge against this Florida defense. They are tough up front on the D-Line.

This is the same Buck Belue that has defended Mike Bobo all season and prior seasons and his play calling. So what did Buck Belue say . . . . got to get back to running the football.

Buck Belue you should thank God HW was on campus. Watched many quarterbacks before and after you. You sure could hand the ball off . . . . . skillfully.

Can get the full Buck Belue blog at his site. Some of us think he carries the "party line".

Buc, you are correct. I have been a CMR backer, solely for the reason that I believe he is a good coach. Do I like the fact he has a religous background, sure, but just about every coach I have known believes in a higher power so that was never the back behind it. I want CMR out only because I am tired of seeing opportunities in big games, end with us being embarassed. I think the man knows football, I think he is a good coach, but I think he time has come and gone. Unless he does all the mentioned things, I think it is time for a change. Even if he goes 12-1. If we do not win the SEC this year, time for a change.

I want the change mainly because, IMO, Kirby Smart is going to be a HC within the next 2 years no doubt. Possibly the coming year, with Dooley, Mack Brown, and a couple of other big jobs looming. To me, the time is now. The risk of Kirby landing at a different university outweighs the risk of keeping CMR around because at most he has another 4 years left.

I do wonder this, if CMR is ousted after the year, and all the stars fall into place and we get Coach Smart. Who will he select as his offensive coordinator? I already believe I know this answer, and sure many know who I believe, but I am just curious to know what others think?

I am not going to give up on the year because a SEC championship is still possible. A long shot, but still a possibility.

GO DAWGS.

I've been hesitant to say it thus far, but, I feel strongly enough about it to voice my opinion. I have been a supporter of the Dawgs ever since the day that I can remember knowing who they were 60 some odd years ago and I can say that this is the first time in my life that I thought the team was rudderless and really not headed in the right direction. Over the last few years myself and others have sat back, kept quiet, and generally took the attitude that UGA would right itself and get back to its rightful place as an SEC power house football team, not going to happen under the current(I use the term loosely)leadership. If we could make the needed changes tomorrow I believe that most of us would forgive the rest of the season as a loss. I think it has gotten that dire. This is not something that has just started, its been eroding now for sometime and really shows sign of more erosion rather than correcting itself. The title to this thread is "Thoughts" and I"m glad to finally get that off my chest. I hope Mcgarity has the answer and is not afraid to make the move,it can't be soon enough for some of us.

The sun shines on a different Dawg every day

Here's my "thought." My Thought is that it's high time we stop trying to out-scheme, out-finesse, out-gameplan, and out-think our competition...that goes for both sides of the ball.

On offense, we're running aspects of no less than three or four different offenses. I understand that we have a questionable o-line to make up for, but we also have a stable of more than capable backs to help make them look good. Pass protection (especially for two tackles that are "new to position" starters, one being a true freshman) is a lot more complicated and cerebral than (I can't believe I'm agreeing with Buck Belue here) lining up and taking your 300+ lbs and cramming it down the throat of the guy in front of you. Richt is an "offensive genius" which at this point, in my mind has gotten us to one place, an offense capable of exploiting inferior defenses and just as equally capable of displaying the fact that we have no true identity against stiff competition.

My "thought" isn't limited to offense...looking you square in the eyes here Grantham. A 3-4 will work, and work well, in the SEC...IF you do two things; a) recruit the right people to execute (we've done that) and 2) (see what I did there...) STRIP IT DOWN TO WHERE PLAYERS CAN EXECUTE IT EFFECTIVELY WITHOUT BECOMING CONFUSED. You have to out-scheme in the NFL because there's no true separation in talent level from team to team. While the SEC is the closest thing to NFL talent there is, it's not the same. Our separation is our physical ability and our attitude.

There's a reason assignments are being missed, lanes not being maintained, coverages being blown, and I promise you, it has nothing to do with missing starters at the beginning of the year. We have the talent to be a dominating defense...if the coaches can get out of the way, schematically, and focus on allowing these guys to play fast, and play confident.

Look back at all the recent SEC/National Champions...they didn't do anything flashy, they simply identified what they did best, and did that to the absolute best of their ability. It's exactly what Alabama, LSU, and SC are doing now, and what Alabama and LSU has done for several years now. None of those three are winning style points...but they're sure as hell winning games.

In conclusion, we're the Georgia Damn Bulldawgs...we don't need to trick people into losing to us, we simply need coaches who are willing and able to take our physical ability and match it with the attitude to win. PERIOD!!

Listened to Greg McGarity's presser that he gave a couple of days ago. After hearing what he had to say I thought the following to myself.

Athletic Director is telling the truth when he says there are more sports than football being played through the University of Georgia. Also understand that the NCAA is going to have requirements that all universities must meet.

However . . . . not one of the other sports that are being played on campus have a 90,000 plus seating capacity. We have touched on this before . . . . the football program is what keeps the doors open for the other sports to exist. As a business man, tells me that we take care of first things first.

Examples of business decisions in my mind could very well be fashioned after the University of Alabama and the way their football program is ran. Real simple, Saban has complete control over the football factory, and Alabama has become just that, a football factory. Saban is "Boss Man".

At our university, we have the President, Athletic Director and the Head Coach. Greg McGarity made short work of letting Mark Richt know that he was now in charge of the football program. Only person that McGarity has to answer to is the President. In the service we called it the chain of command.

At this point, I stand by my statements that the burden of our football program rests in the lap of Greg McGarity. Same can be said of Athletic Directors that is said "often" about Head Football Coaches, you too can be replaced.

I truly believe that most on this board believe that the time has come to face reality. All one has to do is look at the results from the past two years and surmise that the leaders of UGA Football have reached the pinnacle of their talents. Wipe away the smoke, it is time for serious consideration in reaching out to someone that has shown the ability to go to the next step.

Kirby Smart I would guess is the coach that most UGA supporters would get behind and approve of. If . . . if Kirby Smart were to accept the head coaching position at UGA, I would wager that there would be some lifting of the rules and the way the football program is being handled. Kirby has studied under Saban, when he steps out, his six shooter will be loaded both from a business standpoint and a coaching standpoint.

It is a given when you want something badly enough, you also have to be willing to give something up. Kirby Smart will not come cheap and those that manage the money better be prepared to loosen the purse strings. Alabama did and what is the outcome . . . . same will apply with Kirby Smart.

Just read a article where bobo says he wished he would of ran the ball more against south Carolina. Yeahh seeing as how that is what lsu did and wore them out, now he says that. I really don't understand how Richt can keep him bobo is clueless, infact this whole coaching staff is clueless. Poor offensive line play and I haven't seen one coach address that.. It's sad when fans who dont get paid millions can see things that "coaches" that do get played millions can't see.
