Great post Buc. I agree with everything you have posted. I will say I have a few things I see differently, and many I agree with. Spurrier did an excellent job while at uf, and has done a good job while at usc. However, if I were on the offensive side, and wanted to go to the NFL and be successful, I don't think I would play for SS. Can really remember to many player on offense at any position that have had a lot of success in the NFL. I am sure there are some, but not many.

Saban is hot, and will be hot. No school in America has a winning tradition like bama. Hate it, but its true. Not to mention, he is a great coach. I would say though that CMR has put as many kids in the NFL as Saban. Especially if you are an offensive player. Saban does have so much success with defensive guys though. CTG will bring that gap closer. To me, that is where we have really dropped the ball. Plain and simple.

I started thinking the other day, when bama started making their rise to the top, how did they do it? How was lsu successful this year? I went back a long time. Started thinking before them at he uf teams that won NC? Yeah, they had a very good offense, but look at the defenses for those teams. I didn't realize they were that good. Really good actually.

Now back to the east, has usc been successful because of SS's offense's? Seeing a serious trend, and I think CMR did too. Special teams and defense in this league are going to win a lot more games than offenses.

Lot of thoughts going through my head, wonder what our record would have been with good, solid ST play? Not great, just good? Would we have been SEC champs? Really?

Average, couldn't agree more on recruiting. Circus sounds about perfect.

AllDawgs5 you are right on with the first paragraph for sure. The quarterbacks that SS had during his time at Florida were more game managers than big time chunkers. Florida ate our lunch during Spurrier's stay with a simple flat pass and speed. Time and time again he would pull his quarterback for some simple simon type of play.

Definite advantage goes to Mark Richt when it comes to quarterback play. He played the position, never outstanding, but he did have some serious talent in front of him at Miami and Denver. None the less, Richt went to practice at both places, learned the ins and outs of that position. When he took over the offensive duties at FSU, he had some serious offensive quarterback play from more than one player. That definitely speaks for itself.

Where I think we will or could be much improved this season is at the quarterback position. AM has been aroound the SEC a couple of times now, plus one year from the sidelines with the clipboard. Not too much more for him to learn at this point. The offensive line comes together with the running backs and receivers we have on hand, this could be exciting. AM has got to let these young fellows step up and carry the load. Speaking of a load . . . know that I keep harping on Quayvon Hicks, just have this feeling that he is going to supply us with something that has been missing from our fullback position. Believe he will create some gasps from folks in the stands. Young fellow is a man. Sure hope it works out where the coaches put him there and leave him there, based on performance of course.

You and several others have hit the nail on the head in my opinion. Special Teams really need to be special . . . again. So right about games being won and lost there.

Build that depth, makes for :) faces in the win/loss column.

Great points Buc, I have never said anything about it cause I fear I already get the rap of being to much of a CMR homer. When I really think about CMR, he to me as done as much on the offensive side as anyone. Yeah, SS gets the great wrap of being a great offense, and for much reason. He cultivated an offense this conference hadnt seen. Won a NC had a Heisman trophy winner. Good stuff.

Now CMR, 2 NC and 2 Heisman trophy winners. Sure, he wasn't the HC, but really, how much coaching was Bowden doing? How many years did his offenses lead the nation in yards, points, etc. One of the more interesting things too was how he adapts to the QB's. Charlie Ward and Weinke were different styles, however he won a NC with both, and they both went home with Heisman trophies. Then, I look at what he did at UGA. An SEC champ with DG and DJ. To different styles. Stafford set all sorts of records, No.1 pick etc. Records broken by AM who is a different style QB. Just interesting to me. Regardless of how we want to bash the offense for certain situations, there were still some successful accomplishments this year.

Also, 4 out of 11 years he has competed in the conference championship game. UGA hadn't been to one before he took over. Won it twice. Only thing he has missing is a NC as a HC.

Just thinking aloud, but to me the 20 years of success as a coach outweigh 2 bad seasons. What coach could we replace CMR that has better credentials? Call 10-3 a bad season all you want, but I will take 10 every year especially when you are losing to teams that are winning NC's. Apparently those teams are pretty good. I wish it was us, but jealousy makes in for some bad decisions.

Sorry for rambling, but back to the point. Yes Buc, I too expect Hicks to be a great player for the Dawgs. All I read the kid saying is something along the lines " I don't care what the coaches ask me to do. I will do whatever to help UGA win". Awesome attitude. Wonder if IC would say that?

I hope 2 of the young men step up. Maybe 3. Crowded position, should be no excuses. Someone step up. I thought overall, RB was my biggest disappointment last year besides ST's. OL caught a bunch of slack, and at times deserved it, but they didn't have much help from the RB's. Holes aren't going to be gaping in this conference. Break arm tackles and hang onto the dang football.

Would you fire CMR to replace him with CTG if you were AD? If so, looking at it from a business prospective, would that be a wise move? If it didn't work out, how quickly do you think Mac would be gone?

IF Richt did not win it all this year I would fire him and give it to GTG unless Richt would go ahead and get a proven OC right now then I would give him 2 years.Richt has to many friends for me coaching own his staff no body else does.Do you think CTG could not win with a proven OC players will play hard for CTG.I just want to be FEARED by the other teams like we should be not pushed around if not for CTG Richt would of done nothing to Franklin he should stand up for his players .As far as AD I do not like this cream puff schedule we get to thinking we are good then LSU shows up and kick's our butt.To be the best play the best Al. fans say your Dawgs are scared to play remeber the black out I was looking forward to shuting that mouth this year but no we droped AL. this year they lost alot and we keep the D.
