Seems several think that AM made some "bone headed" throws this year. Even though he has been on campus for three years, this was his sophomore year. I look back at all of his contributions and record setting pace as Georgia's quarterback and it mystifies me that some here think AM is not capable of reading a cover 2 defense. That is plain and simply hogwash.

Richt has been on campus for how many years? In that span of time has our head coach made any bone headed decisions? Has he as head coach repeated any of those same bone headed decisions over the years? If we are going to be righteous, then lets take it all the way out, don't stop with one player in this game and some others that he has made mistakes in.

Almost everyone posting here is saying Mike Bobo should either quit or be fired. Whose damn job is it to do that? Those that want to protect Mark Richt, also have to look at some of their previous posts and their thoughts prior to this thread. Just saying . . .

Buc, I absolutely agree with you on AM being our guy. He's already what, third in TD passes in UGA history in only two seasons? Has he made some mistakes, and even repeated some of those mistakes? Sure, but like you said, he's literally on a record-setting pace.

Now, do me a favor and please think about this objectively. Replace the name "Aaron Murray" with "Mark Richt" and tell me how the two correlate. 11 years seems like a long time, but mostly because we're currently a part of the 11-year run. In 11 years CMR has literally been on a record-setting pace, just like Murray. He's the fastest coach in UGA history to 100 wins, and he's already made it to the SEC Championship 5 times. As far as I can remember he's dropped one...ONE game in 11 years to our in-state rival. By the way, I only use Dooley as a point of reference because he brought us our most recent NC. Another question, wasn't Dooley's most successful stretch when Erk was his D-coordinator? Is 2 years with Grantham operating as Richt's "defensive guy" enough time to see how this combination works?

All of this is opinion I know, but I look back at one part of your post:

"I look back at all of his contributions and record setting pace as Georgia's quarterback and it mystifies me that some here think AM is not capable of reading a cover 2 defense. That is plain and simply hogwash."

and I honestly feel the same way about CMR.

I look back at all of his contributions and record setting pace as Georgia's Head Coach and it mystifies me that some here think CMR is not capable of one day winning a National Title. You know what they say about opinions, so I know not everyone will agree, but that, in a nutshell, is how I feel about CMR.

At the end of the season, every team in college football from the National Champion down to the 121st ranked team will have to take a long look at their program and make changes necessary to either continue with their success or turn things around. I think we've turned things around and I trust CMR to make changes necessary to continue upward. That isn't to say I expect him to fire/hire certain people...that's his call and as the only head coach of UGA, one only he is qualified to make.

I think Gruden would have slapped him on the back during the game and told him he thinks he sees a weakness in the corners sitting on those short routes, and then chewed his butt in the film room the next day - but I'm not a head coach, so I have no idea.

That is pretty close to the truth. Promise you this, if Jon Gruden says this kid (AM) is a quarterback, he is a quarterback. Had Jon Gruden been AM's coach, especially his head coach, AM would have been ALL THAT. We have a case of the blind leading the blind. Orgredawg your comment on Richt calling plays, I would wager in your direction. No way Mike Bobo calls the knee. If so, just further proves the point that a change is needed topside.

Huge "BUMP" to you, Mike Honcho. Agree or disagree, very well stated case. And two or three seasons out of 11 don't make a resume either, so touche' sir!

Buc, I agree, you attack a Tampa 2 with short passing game in the middle of the field. Kiffin's version of the cover 2 used in Tampa, hence the Tampa 2, was to take the Mike and have him retreat to the deep middle as soon as the ball was snapped. This allows you safeties more flexibility to leave the hashes. However, this is not what MSU was doing. They were hugging the hashes and leaving an ILB underneath. They were giving up the deep ball game down the sidelines. They were playing a true cover 2, not really comparable to what Kiffin ran in Tampa.

Hence the reason you call a smash route, or version of the smash route against a cover 2. If the corner sinks, you throw flat, if he squats, you hit the vertical down the sideline. Especially, if the corner doesn't collision No. 1. It puts the safety in no mans land. We had it there for the taking. Just didn't happen for us.

BTW, it was a sarcastic comment about AM not being able to read a cover 2. It did make it obvious that AM wasn't on his game.

If we are going to sit a player down for "bone headed" mistakes, what the hell happens to those that are above them that have been incredibly bad at "decision" making for a long period of time. Way before AM won the job on the practice field. All of those "bone headed" mistakes were not made by Mike Bobo, go back through the threads on this board and check the names of those that also attributed "bone head" to Mark Richt.

I get your point, that it might help AM. Wonder if that same treatment were applied to the coaching staff, would it benefit Georgia football? I don't think it would hurt.

AM can't read a cover 2, don't even go there.

Murray gets hurt, we're in a world of pain. I won't even begin to go there with the coaches. I am resigned to the same old thing. Richt is a great recruiter, then why do Alabama and LSU have better players than we do? Does the state of Alabama and Louisiana have more high school talent than the state of Georgia? Richt does NOT spend enough time in the office looking at film of high school players. He doesn't.

Mike Honcho, a very good post. I am going to try and answer that with a one liner.

Records aside, quarterback and coach, what was the reasoning for McGarity calling Mark Richt into his office as soon as he arrived on campus.
