Back from Ol Miss

Been out for a while, just got the trusty old computer cranked up and really like what I am reading. growl saying the kid needs discipline, WoodstockDawg inserting (I agree) the word entitlement. Lots of us old farts not only believe it, we have witnessed it. AllDawgs5 mentioning the fact that some young folks don't handle or respond to discipline.

Really comes down to a lot of things. Everyone has a cell phone, TV's, computers, cars and every game imaginable to hook up and play anyone across the USA and abroad. Young folks tell us that times have changed. You damn well better believe that statement. Who is going to pay for all of the above mentioned "toys" when they are no longer supplied by enabling parents and friends?

AllDawgs5, geat comment on Ogletree. That young man wants to play football and be all that he can be. Doubt seriously that any of the loafers and quitters have seen or been around any more turmoil than he has. Would love to see him in the backfield. Quite frankly, watched our big back dance around a couple of blocks this past week. If that is doubted, roll the tape, it is there. Hope that does not happen this week. Feel like Ogletree would try and run through a wall if he thought it would help the team. That is the type player that Boise State covets.

Still say there is a reason for Bobo being in the "upper tier". Grantham is getting his "results" with his feet on the turf. Going to post a link below, maybe some have seen it, but interviews with different folks. The one that I like best is the interview with Grantham. Check his facial expression out, eyes, remind me of someone that should have been the head coach at UGA.

Life is about balance. Marriage is about balance, and raising kids is about balance. Everything
we do in life is better with it.

I feel the same about football, and the players who play it. If you are looking at a 5 star player
who is a selfish primadonna, and a 3 star player with heart, courage, and a willingness to
sacrifice... which one are you going to want on your team?

I would say this... a team full of me first players is great for the highlight reel, but a collection
of kids with some talent, and lots of heart, courage, and a willingness to sacrifice and work
their butts off will make a better team. As the old saying goes, in scenario #2.. the sum of the
parts together is greater than the individual pieces.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Here is a link about the latest two players to leave the Dawgs. Mostly because they didn't like being low man on the depth chart.

Now it looks like Ken Malcome is leaving as well.

Read the last paragraph. I really like what CMR said about having to compete for postions.

WoodstockDawg, good read. Found something that I can agree with Richt on. Been a while. Big game being played by many of these young athletes coming out of high school this day and time.

Looking at the number of players leaving the program encourages me when I look at who is leaving and "maybe" why. Makes me wonder why the sudden change in UGA football on player management. McGarity? JoeT? Grantham? Olivadotti? Garner? Lakatos? Probably sum of the parts, does however send a message to young folks reading their personal clips, UGA is more than a party school. Below is the paragraph that you referred to. Good stuff Richt.

“Most everybody we recruit was probably the best player on their team or one of the best players on their team,” Richt said. “So most of them think they’re going to show up and play. They get around athletes that are just as good as them and now they have to learn to compete. Sometimes they see the mountain as too high too climb and they decide to go somewhere else. And that’s fine if that’s what’s going on.

I can't go into great details but let's just say Owens had some help about leaving. He didn't deserve to be a dawg with his attitude and he rub a couple dawgs the wrong way after the team got back from ol miss Saturday night and that's all I can say y'all get where it's going....you mess with the dawgs the wrong way your proably going to get bit annnnnn ( he got bit)

Ken not sure what's going on with that haven't heard yet. I know he's gone but no full details yet.

On the brighter side, this should help recruiting, right? Frees up more scholarships, shortens the depth chart a bit for some of these kids thinking about coming to Athens. Also sets a precedent that you will have to work and compete if you want to see the field. Being a BMOC will be earned and a privilege, not a right. If these kids cannot grasp what it takes and means to wear that "G" on their helmets then good riddance.
