There was a poll taken in the last month of 11 HC's and 44 assistant coaches around the country. They were asked in their opinion, who was the best HC in college football. They voted #1 Gary Patterson and #2 Saban.

Patterson is THE real deal, plays SHUT DOWN D and doesn't make mistakes. Recipe for a SEC coach.

I realize it's a poll but just sayin'.........

If he has any profound ambitions, he will jump at an elite SEC job. It's one thing to play a couple of tough games each year. It's another to be on the front line every week.

You are always right averagedawg. BUMP!! Every damn week. No weak folks in the SEC.

Take a couple of our weaker teams and put them in the same conference with Boise State. Might be tougher than Nevada. One of our weaker teams in 2010 was UGA. I want to play that schedule and look for a place in the top ten. Ready for that, that is what the media is throwing around, keeps all parts of the country watching the BS that they put out there.

The simple solution is for Boise State to play an SEC schedule. That would either shut my mouth or . . . . . put the facts on the table.

I hear a lot about the coaching, ok can buy some of that. However, when you step into the SEC, several National Championships, does not need to be discussed, it is what it is.

Buster Douglas knocked Tyson out. Freaky things do happen. Is UGA ready to play football? Is Boise State ready to kick the heck out of a less than average SEC team that was 6-7 last season, guess that will be answered soon.

Just a bit tired of this media hype, and folks that is all this amounts to. The football field has not changed since anyone on this board has followed football. Let's get it on and see what Boise State is, and UGA wants to be. It is only football played on a Saturday . . . right?

I'm with you Buc. It will be settled on the field. But, after BSU beats UGA, I don't want to read about how BSU only had to get up for one game, or that it doesn't mean that much to us because we play such a tough schedule and BSU doesn't, or BSU used too many trick plays, or....whatever.

If we beat you, we beat you fair and square. If we lose, we lost fair and square. That's it.

There is no doubt the SEC is the baddest conf on the land. That's why we want to play you. And beat you. It (beating an SEC team) is next on our to do list. If we do, it will be a HUGE accomplishment, and any rationalizing by Dawg faithful will be weak sauce to my ears.

Never been one to make excuses seevee. Hard to say who will benefit more from winning this game. Most polls have Boise State either 5 or 6, those are lofty numbers. Especially when one of the polls that I watch closely is voted on by the coaches.

Remains to be seen where or if UGA will find its way back into the upper echelon. UGA is a very talented team and could be a big surprise this year. Couple of pretty good quarterbacks going head to head, several players from both teams being nominated for seasonal awards.

Appears that you are right about the SEC being a tough bunch, have been for many years. As you said, Boise State wants another feather in its cap. Only problem that I have is too many conferences have what I like to refer to as "off weeks". In the SEC each team gets "one off week" in a season. Tough grind, would think that would be considered when placing folks in certain bowls. At the end of this season, it will be interesting to see how many SEC teams are placed in the top ten or so.

The above is not a cop out, it plays out like that each year. Makes me respect Texas A&M for wanting to enter the SEC. Any team that would want to play the SEC schedule has to have moxy. Of course there are monetary reasons for showing up on Saturdays in the SEC.

UGA had a warm up year in the 3/4, might be it will run a bit smoother this time around. Be interesting to see how we handle the 4 and 5 receiver sets. When this is over, Boise State will understand what makes SEC football what it is. No crying towels needed here, will be getting ready for another war the following Saturday and most Saturdays after that. Just a way of life in Dixie.

Hey seevee, I agree with you on that! No excuses, just tape up the ankles, snap the chin straps and have at it, best team wins. It really makes no difference which conference you are in when you are on the field, does it?

I don't think you were in this forum yet when I said it, but I will go to the Boise State forum and post a HUMBLE congratulations to you guys if you win this one. I'll still say the SEC is BY FAR the best conference in the land (because it is), but you won't read anything from me about how unfair it is that we lost - IF we lose. (Just heard Bobby Bowden on the radio saying he hopes FSU stays out of the SEC - he said it's just too tough to play against 'Bama, Auburn, LSU, Tenn., Florida and Georgia week in and week out.)

I just honestly don't think we will lose.

And think of it this way - if Boise State loses the game, you'll still probably do NO WORSE than 10-2 and get a pretty nice bowl game. If WE lose, we will probably get a new head coach.

Kudos to the Broncos for playing us.
May the best team win.
After us, they play Toledo. I am sure, a very tough team.

Do you have a link for that poll? I would put Petersen ahead of Patterson because: 1) I'm biased, 2) Pete has done more with less. TCU football has three times BSU's budget, and sits in a talent rich state, 3) TCU was outcoached in our last meeting.

It was on a pre-season college football preview show.

Just your opinion against their's, don't take it so personally. Peterson is a very good coach.....I personally have been preaching for UGA to hire Patterson and his whole staff. Also think Saban is better than Peterson but it is all so subjective and such "fine lines" it's not worth arguing about.....there are much more important things going on than worrying about THAT issue.
