Could not pass this up coming from Buck.
Could Caleb King Save The Season?

Crazy talk, uh? Then, call me crazy. Seriously, this is a likely scenario in 2011. One of the storylines that will probably play out: Caleb King saves the season.
Think about it...Boise State and South Carolina loom. Richt's reportedly on the hot seat, coming off a losing season. The 'Dogs need to play at a high level to START the season. Coaches trust in the veterans in this situation. The upperclassmen get the benefit of the doubt.
And the chances are Crowell's not ready to be the lead 'Dog. Can he contribute in a supporting role? Yes. Tote the rock 20 times against Boise State? No. Don't believe so. And when Aaron Murray throws it, will Crowell know who to block and can he block them? Can't plan on that really.
Caleb King looks to me like a young man in a good position. He's motivated to have a big senior season. It's his last shot to impress NFL scouts. He's in the best shape of his life and can play physical at 220-plus. Caleb can hold up between the tackles, burst it outside, catch it and protect. Solid all-around skill set. And again: he's motivated and capable of being the lead 'Dog.
Has he disappointed you? Sure. It hasn't been one of those legendary tales. There have been injuries and issues. Caleb has always shared the load, never really seeming to embrace the lead 'Dog role. Ealey was around then. And now, Isaiah Crowell is supposed to come in as a freshman and take all the playing time?
The track record says Caleb King is going to disappoint you. Understand that. But I'm not buying it this time.
I see a 1,000 yard season. 200 carries and 12 TD runs. A 5 yard per carry average. And as it turns out, a positive influence on Crowell.
I know, call me crazy.
The "blocking" point is well taken and believe CK will definitely protect AM better than IC.
The running point is a big............SHOW ME!!!!

now I have never been a big fan of Buck Belue or his football knowledge for that matter......but I think he is spot on about Caleb King......it is his time and I think that he has performed in the class room which is a big step in showing that he is mature....time for him to step up and lead on the field and show IC the ropes in the offensive scheme and what is expected of the TB in pass blocking situations......
another question is will BOBO step up......may be our only nagging question this year.....

I, for one, relish the challenge of our first two games.
You gotta believe Aaron Murray's chomping at the bit.

I like our friend wlayton am a "show me" type person......CTG has the credentials to lead us back to our Junkyard Dawg days of our beloved Erk.......but after suffering thru the WM years (and they were loooong years) I am looking for much much more from our D this year as much as 100% improvement in turn overs and QB sacks....less rushing yards per game and more heads up type of football.....(less bonehead type mistakes)......I saw some of it last year and expect to see a whole lot more this year.....is CTG our savior.....he certainly has the talent around him to be just that....SHOW ME this year.....

ogredawg.....believe we are on the same page. I also believe Belue is spot on with CK's pass blocking but not totally convinced he's has or CAN change his instintive running style.....of dancing too much and not hitting the hole.....naturally tentative, think it's ingrained in his style......DOESN'T work in the SEC.....only in video games.

Appears that IC is beginning to notice that high school and the new regimes plan of attack are different. IC needs to be himself, do the things that he can do, and most of all, give JTII all that he has. Wake up, go to work, earn the accolades that can be his through hard work and team play.
Caleb King can be a huge difference this season. From my seat, not betting against Malcome being a significant factor in the fall. Not sure that the folks that run the offensive side have a good feel for evaluating talent. Thus far, the offensive coordinator only stands out to Buck Belue.
One point ogredawg, looking at this years team lineup on defense and looking at last years defense, much has changed in my mind. That includes an addition to the coaching staff at the linebacker position. We will see.
Here are my feelings. We have seen a lot of changes in UGA football over many years. Not talking about the last 2, 3. 4, or 5 years. Where the hell is that crystal trophy? Why is it that we have to go back to the 80's to stick our chest out and say, look at us. Too many great, not average football players come through Athens and we do what . . . last shot was 6-7. If we continue to say that next year will be better . . . . . trace those words back to the 80's. Patient enough for that . . . . not me.
Guess I am with kentdaddy, and ogredawg and others . . . . show me.
Folks I said sometime back that I am not going to go with the flow. Been around too damn long and watched the "replays".
One last thingy . . . Bobo/Richt do not have a clue when it comes to Orson Charles. FACT. Watch what happens when he turns pro. Too many great athletes pass through Athens and their talent is discovered when they are coached up.
