Don’t feel like anyone on this board has issues with the “Dream Team” recruiting year. The entire group of folks out there talking to the athletes, their Moms and Dads, were a huge success.
I have been around SEC football for a few years, one thing that I know for sure, you better have a kicking game. All phases of the kicking game. It appears that has not been lost with the recent recruits signing on with UGA.
Don’t mean this in a negative way. We can have a lot of flash, a lot of “hot talk” in the press about every position on the field. Running backs, quarterbacks, defensive ends, nose tackles and the beat goes on.
Richt did something in the last couple of days that really impresses me. He got a young man, Collin Barber from Cartersville to sign on with our team. I will post the link below, some maybe have not seen the column by Marc Weiszer. Marc is fast becoming one of my favorite media folks. Back to the subject. Earlier this year Richt signed Marshall Morgan, a young man from Coral Gables that is really, really good. Marshall kicks off of the tee and straight legs it also.
Some folks don’t like the idea of having two young men that do the same thing, I don’t have a problem with it. I would compare this to the situation that is facing our offensive line now. Depth. In the SEC you had better have someone that can step up and get the job done, whether kicking or punting. Two young men that don’t mind facing each other and both are aware of the others talents. Good move Richt. Speaks well for two outstanding young athletes.

Kicking game is SEC football. Sometimes that three pointer means a lot. Sometimes that ball being punted inside the ten, twenty yard line with no return wins football games or gives a team a chance to win. Gives the defensive side a chance to make big plays. Usually play calling down deep in one’s own territory changes the play calling substantially.
