This Corner Back and Safety discussion has me looking around and scratching my head a bit. Below on the first line are the incoming players for 2011.

Second list are the players that are already in uniform. Some of the incoming players and a couple of the vets have been mentioned on the offensive side also.

One would think that our coaches could come up with a starting 4 or 5 that should be better than average. 14 players listed below. ogredawg is making me think.

Nick Marshall, Malcolm Mitchell, Damian Swann, Corey Moore, Chris Sanders.

Brandon Boykin, Sanders Commings, Jakar Hamilton, Jordan Love, Derek Owens, Bacarri Rambo, Branden Smith, Shawn Williams.

"Things to Ponder" is the title Buc.....lol....

My main point being is that the only player who really stepped up in the secondary last year was Ogletree......Rambo played just OK......as did Commings.......but ability to make a tackle concerned me.....case in point was Ms. State....and against the Gaytors.....too many blown coverages also in letting the opposition get "behind" them for big yards....granted the play was better than 2 years ago when we had like 1 interception...but one is not much to improve on it can only get better.....lol

ogredawg, folks like you make folks like me get more involved. Too damn easy to throw a fit and question why. All any of us have to do is look at "what happened" where and when. Miss State and UF being prefect examples of what you are posting. You are spot on.

Brings me to this. . . . .We know the players that are returning, we also know who the newcomers are and their supposed talents. I would think that from this entire group that after the first half of this season, this team, being healthy, should be a tough bunch to beat.

Coaching of course has to come into this picture. While I am not ready to bet the home forty, I do believe that Grantham and company will have UGA back in lock step on the defensive side of the ball. As my avatar suggests, I am defense first.

It appears more and more to me with all of the turmoil that has surrounded our football team for too long, is now beginning to see the light of day. If we win 7/6, 7/3 or 3/0 makes for a wonderful weekend for me. Burgers and beer on Saturdays, Bloody Marys on Sunday morning, what a great way to live. :)

Must say this. Richt has done a great job of recruiting, however that is a never ending task. If Richt is going to be our head coach, I want everything he has as a head coach to justify leading the Red and Black. To be National Champions, both sides of the ball have to compliment each other. Richt did not come to UGA as a defensive specialist, he has it appears, found one, found one that is not showing fear from the likes of SS and others. Grantham in his second year is going to have folks watching and making offers. One Old Fart's opinion.

Also, stanger said in his thread that Caleb King looks like he is ready to be what we thought he would be when recruited. I hope so, been really down on his attitude for a while now. Takes some longer than others to grow up, and of course in a recent development, we had a BMOC (in his dreams) leave. Appears some don't warrant wearing the uniform. Again, my opinion. :)

Well in the 3 man front the starting LB'ers would be Cornelius Washington and Jarvis Jones on the outside, w/ Alec Ogletree and Christian Robinson on the inside, with Robinson being the general on the field.

"Backups" would be Faloughi, R. Samuel, Chase Vasser, and M. Gilliard.

At least that is the way the depth chart reads after the spring.

I, for one, cant WAIT to see Ogletree at the LB position. I like that kid alot. He flies to the ball, and, like I've said before can knock the bill off a duck.

Robinson (per his social networking) is really humping it in the gym right now, and not afraid to let you know that. He, in my mind, has the most important position on that side of the ball since he will be the "captain" relaying all of the info for the next play. After he does that part, its up to the rest of the boys to....how do they say??? GATA!!

DAWG1277......totally agree with the starting 4 LB's. Will make a small prediction that Ray Drew will push Robinson and get a ton of playing time.

High five on Drew's talent. Too many schools were after his services for him not to be a special talent.

Question . . . Supposedly Robinson is going to be the QB on the defensive side of the ball. Will Drew or does Drew have that type of skill set so early? Again, interesting. :)
