Buc, those stats kinda reminds me of our basketball team. They can take a lead on ANYBODY but can't finish the last 1/4 of the games.

wlayton, it is really going to be interesting to see how our Dawgs do this coming season with all of the changes that have been made. All of us know that there is a trememdous amount of talent in Athens. Going to be a lot of competition for jobs, only 11 play at one time, and everyone wants to start. If they don't want to start, not sure they belong on the team. This could be the beginning of something very special. Crossed fingers here.

JJ coming in to make it a tad more difficult to run in the area of center/guards. Watched some of the film on him that I had previously watched. Think it was ogredawg that said he has really good reaction speed. He does have that.

Grantham, with all of his knowledge about disguising defenses, appears to have all of the parts needed for UGA to be a tough bunch of Dawgs. AO moving to the inside had to be a tough decision to make. He can play anywhere, offense or defense, special athlete.

Lakatos will now show us his wares. I have confidence that Lakatos with a year under his belt, has to be more comfortable with his surroundings and players. Don't really see a lot of room for excuses this year, or maybe the years to come from anyone on the coaching staff.

Really hope that Washington can and will show us some of that "reported" speed coming off of the edge. He has serious competition coming in, and that can only be a good thing. See us as being 2 deep at just about every position. NO ROOM FOR FOURTH QUARTER COLLAPSES. :)

I'm with ya Buc. The big talent coming in may take a little time to develope (with the exception of 3 or 4) but there should be no excuses this year about seeing a huge improvement in all areas. Coaches are backed into a corner....let's see if they are willing to fight their way out.

Results......just show me results.

With the 3/4 and 4/3 (which I still think we are going to use a lot) the speed should cause a lot of problems. wlayton, stat wise, not sure if I have ever seen a team at UGA that has the promise that this upcoming unit does.

If one believes in the forecasters, Auburn, Alabama and maybe Florida had better recruiting years than we did. If that is the case, the SEC is truly a tough bunch. With you, it now comes down to coaching and of course the players have a little bit to do with that . . . :)

Would not trade AM for anyone, anywhere. Now we have some serious competition at running back, and I do like that. IC is a load, no doubt. WE has not performed up to his talent, think we will see that this season.

Also like the changes made at fullback. Following is a quote from Fred Muzenmaier about Figgins.

“Bruce is doing great,” Munzenmaier said. “Bruce is a tremendous tight end. I think just to see how well he does at fullback, he’s just a good football player. He’s getting out there and working hard every day. I respect a guy who just wants to get on the field anywhere he can and do as much as he can.”

Also like Alexander Ogletree, sometimes the size has to do with heart, and I have not doubts that Alexander has a huge heart . . . and he will do his job. Really think we are going to see some huge hits from the shorter of the twins.

South Carolina came away with a huge player at defensive end. If he gets past the offensive tackle, he still has a load to contend with. Coach T will definitely change Figgins' body, and his body ain't bad now. :)

Feel the same way that averagedawg does, keep your noses clean and have a wonderful ride in Athens.

AM may well be the best QB in the SEC the next 2-3 years. If I were a DC, I would hate to defend against our offense this year. Where do you focus the D on.....???

Buc, the puzzle pieces are boxed up and ready, let's see if the coaches can make them fit. If they can, the pic created may say "SEC CHAMPIONSHIP". :woohoo: :woohoo:

What are the coaches on offense going to do with Orson Charles? I like Aron White a bunch, and we have this young man from Valdosta coming to Athens. You are so right about the offense wlayton, the talent is there.

IC coming on board sure as heck did not hurt our chances of "improving". Two tight end set I like a lot. I just feel there is a better place for OC, and I would hate having to hang onto his jersey with IC in the backfield, someone on defense has a problem.

Here is where I think the season lies. The offensive line. We have two tackles and a center that have a lot of experience. Leaves two guards that need to step in and kick butt. Wish Bean would "grow up" still not sure about this young man. Huge, 6'4" or 5" over 320 and that toe should be fine. This could very well be his year. Grantham did not seem to want to see Bean leave the defense. That is encouraging.

Every year I watch the SEC signings and without fail Saban comes away with superior linemen. In the pits is where the play starts. I want to go to Atlanta on our last SEC encounter as well as the first this season. Players wearing the Red and Black with a lot of talent, hope this applies to the staff. Think it does for the most part.

One more thing about Crowell . . . . went back and watched some of his high school film. When he breaks the line of scrimmage, no wonder he was top rated running back. Auburn seems to think that they are the cats meow, guess we will see in Athens. . . . . Crowell is FAST and has the SHAKES.
