Buc, just saw your post about Washington. I have wondered in the past, how a guy this big, strong, and fast does not just dominate. I believe he spent last year under CTG. I wonder if he had a little trouble adjusting to the scheme. Who knows? Maybe he was just waiting on his chance. With Houston gone, he has it. Hope this kid figures it out. Talk about raw talent.

AD5......imo, he may be the most talented guy on our D. Believe he will be a force this coming season.

Buc, back to your question on who we think may have a special year.

From the newcomers, I wouldn’t be surprised if Christian Conley has an impact. UGA needs help at receiver, and he is already on campus and will go through spring practice.

We really need Marlon Brown to step up too. Believe he can be a starter.

Everything that I have read about Christian Conley has been positive. From attitude to potential. Absolutely in agreement with you on this young man wlayton.

Another incoming freshman Malcolm Mitchell, has me thinking that this young guy is special also. Richt has said openly that even though MM is rated as the top defensive back in the nation by Rivals, he has his eye on MM playing offense. Says one of two things to me, either our existing WR's need some extra punch, or our defensive backfield is loaded, or MM looks that good to Richt. Looking at the offensive side, seems to me that there are several folks ready to step up. In the recruiting process, something had to have been said to MM for Richt to even mention him as he spoke publicly about offense.

Marlon Brown just mystifies the heck out of me. Maybe as some have suggested, the classification that he played in while in high school did not present him with the background needed to start in the SEC. Watched him in the all star game prior to coming to UGA and he was lights out. Much better competition in the all star game than what he played against in high school. Just don't know. Would it not be a kick in the butt if MB just broke out this year, lights out.

Beginning to think that there are not enough footballs to go around. This is where a quarterback is just as important running the team off the field as on. So much talent and . . . . . one football. Situation like this does not take long to find out who the "team players" are.

All of this takes me back to the offensive line. Crossed fingers, need that oline to be a bad bunch of hombres. Here is hoping that Friend doesn't like friendly olinemen. (I know, corny) . . .

Another little ditty that bugs me a bit.

I don't give a hoot how much the assistants are being paid. What I care about is whether or not that assistant is doing his or her job.

I have a problem when someone is making dollars past a million or close to a million or half million and not accomplishing a whole lot. Then it is dollars wasted in my opinion and I begin to ask questions.

Where did this come from . . . . I don't know, just an old fart that wants our team to be coached well, perform, look up into Sanford Stadium on Saturdays and realize that these folks make SACRIFICES also.

OK, just trying to get folks on this board to participate. Million things I can talk about or bring up, what about you folks . . . . Meant what I said though . . . . earn your damn keep. :)

South Carolina gave us a real hard time last year running the ball between the tackles. Here is hoping that JJ occupies a center and a guard, appears to me that Jones and Samuel will be inside in a flash, and with what wlayton said . . . . OUCH!!!

ogredawg said in another thread that he had watched JJ play in Mississippi, what I drew from what he said was . . . . . . real deal. Believe it was ogredawg.

Another question I have is Washington. Coming out of high school I was real high on Cornelius, really liked his speed. Apparently he is up to about 250/260 and still big time fast. What is going on here? Maybe new linebacker coach will be the key to helping CW become all he can be at OLB. Sometimes it just takes that one coach to help a player improve from good to great. Crossed finger on CW, I know that the talent is there.

YD1, not talking out of my you know what when I say Ramik is special. He is. Humble young man until he puts the cleats on. . . . . gonna love this guy. He looks for contact. I would like to see him at strong safety, bring back some memories from the past. Also, has good hands, will intercept, make receivers in his area take "short steps". You know what I mean . . . :)

Yes JJ is the real deal......quick and strong....in what I saw of him this past year is a run stuffer.....can play in any big conference, just glad he chose us......Samuel and Jones on the inside with JJ and Dawgs are going to be very happy......

now to whom I think will be the star of the D.....Ogletree at safety is my pick.....the young man has it all......bad to da bone.....

ogredawg, Ogletree got some of that much needed playing time last season. That has to be a plus for him and the team. Alec is another one of those head hunters. Toward the end of last season, seems that #9 was around the ball more than some of the others. Tells me that his confidence continued to build, hard to beat playing time, even for the great ones, and that will probably be an adjective that we use to describe #9 after he moves on to the pros.

One of the reasons I have asked the question about players is this . . . .

Wanted to see how many different names were selected from those of us on this board. So far those that have posted are coming up with different names. That to me is encouraging. We seem to think that there is talent in Athens, enough talent to do better than 6-7. Not trying to open up old sores, just trying to get a grip on what many here think can happen this season.

A lot of talent has been mentioned thus far, think that there are more names that could/should be mentioned. One I am very high on is Kenarious Gates. Think this is one of the players that will make a huge difference on the oline this year. Friend has to be real happy he has a player with this much talent.

Just fishing folks. What ya think? :)
