A View of Football

Traveled back a ways in the threads. There was a lot said and so much of it is coming true.

Read the whole package again, and there are some folks on this board that really are in tune with what is going on with our football team.

I pulled one post from the many pages, could pull many more. What averagedawg said back then came to light in one of the recent threads mentioning the fact that Drew is all about team. Drew waking the new recruits up to attend class. Outstanding, we need this kind of leadership.

Clowney will be a player.
What impresses me about Drew is his commitment to the team concept.
I'll take Drew over Clowney.

When you are as old as we are, Buc, you just get "feelings" about people.
I can feel a new attitude coming from Athens.
We have always had the talent.
There will be no excuses heard from me this year.

averagedawg, one thing that can be said about most of us on this board is that we supported Richt's efforts. Will say this, needs to quit talking about no kick-off returns and various other things and stay focused on UGA football right now. We will find out this year if a talented football team from Athens can win against other talented teams. Good call on Drew, not surprising. You do talk too much . . . . . :)

Another post that I enjoyed reading. Fits in along the lines of leadership that averagedawg mentioned. . . . .

I really hate that I feel this way guys, I would love nothing better than to be on the band wagon and say that things have changed and we will win the east. I guess I lost faith in CMR 3 years ago, and things have gone down hill ever since to me. I am with you on the new coaches and the S & C changes, but until I see results, I am going to be skeptial.

Buc as to your question, I think we lose to BS, USC, MISS State, TENN, FLA, Auburn, KY and Tech. The ole Miss game is a toss up. I just do not see our D being any different this year not with one player Jenkins being the center of the line to stop the run.

I don't know, for I may still just be pissed for the sorry excuss of team unity and lack of effort last year. I really don't mean to come off so negative, but right now until things have been proved to me differently, then my feeling stand as to my previous quotes.

Duck

You have every right to be negative............being 6-7 and losing to UCF sucks...Jenkins cannot and will not be able to do it all......the ILB's have to step it up and having Ogletree starting at safety is going to be huge........

now let me ask this...........who stepped up and was A LEADER on the field this past season....certainly was not AJ......closest one was maybe Durham on 0 and Houston on D.......but IMHO not ONE player really stepped up to LEAD the team on either side of the ball.....and if no one steps up to take charge as a player duck will be right......

Buc, you probably read Chris Low's ranking of SEC quarterbacks.
He has Murray no. 1.
Hopefully the OL can provide some protection.
God help us if he gets hurt.

averagedawg, those that really know and have followed UGA football know that AM is a very special player and person.

If AM has a chance to make a play called from the sidelines or he audibles at the LOS, this offense has a lot of parts and he has that "it" factor so necessary in "leading" a team.

AM will be a force in Central Florida many years after his departure from UGA.

Last year he got UF's attention, this year from what I hear, he is really looking forward to JAX. Couple of football people that I am associated with from time to time in my territory say the young warrior is obsessed with changing things in Jacksonville. By the time JAX comes around, we are healthy and some of the young pups have gridiron time under their belts, could be a lot of Red and Black smiles in 2011.

Come on offensive line, Friend was hired because he played the game at Alabama and understands what needs to be done. Friend might be that missing link on offense.
