AD5, you stated his record over the last 4 years, whcih I already knew (I notice you conviently left out '06, when we lost to UK and Vandy for the first time in I think forever). My question is, from the original post, and is still, what about that makes him the best fit for the future of UGA football? And I'm not debating, I'm seriously wondering.

Happy you brought up Vince. Great Coach. So was Erk. Apparently he is the measuring stick for a coach at UGA. Let's take a look at his 1st 10 years as a head coach

In his first 10 years, I believe he was something like 79-37-5. Richt's first 10 years his record although not complete yet is 94-32. At worse case scenario he would be 94-35

Dooley won 2 SEC championships in his first 10 years. Richt has won 2 SEC championships.

Dooley had 0 NC's, Richt has 0 NC's

Oh yeah, Dooley finished his 11th year with a 6-6 record. According to today's standards, Dooley's career would have ended no doubt.

What made everyone so confident that Dooley was going to turn things around? Wasn't alive but I dont see how one could have that much confidence he was going to turn it around. Is it because his demeanor on the sidelines, or his attitude toward the media? I hope it wasn't because those things to me are irrelevant to whether a coach is a good one of not. Never see the guy at Boise lose his cool. Very calm, mild mannered man. Never gets to high and never gets to low.

Not selling anything Buc. Just looking at factual information. Buc, is not in a wad. Although is was last night. Stomach has trouble handling the mexican food. People simply don't want the man to coach because of a personal preference. Which everyone is free to have?

Times have changed. The SEC is a better conference now than it was back then. Bama was awesome I know.

Quote from earlier post . . .

Huh, I think everyone knows that you win this league by having a great Defense. Defense plays average we have at least 2-3 more wins. Blame Richt because I am sure he has so much to do with the D.

Richt hired the coaches. Same ramblings, over and over. You really don't understand the concept of being a "Head Coach".

You are being asked a very simple question . . . what makes Richt the most qualified to coach UGA football in the future. Simple question. Like pulling teeth to get an answer.

Think I have the answer to sadlerdawgs question, will try and answer it for you.

Because I want him to be head coach. Close?

I basically said yesterday where I stand on CMR......not sure either way....YET. The operative word is, YET. Believe he has made more mistakes in his HIRES than doubting his x's and o's as a HC. We all feel he has the right DC now and I want to see how we do once (if) we get a new dynamic OC like a Mark Whipple. Basically I won't come to much of a conclusion or say, FINAL conclusion until his second coaching mistake has been corrected and see where we go.

Face it....we can say he has no fire. He didn't become a great athlete himself, back in his days playing ball, without having fire in his gut. You don't have to rant and rave to have fire.

We can say he can't motivate.......we don't REALLY know that, how many of us are in the locker room or practice or one on one meetings and actually witness CMR........NOBODY, we are just GUESSING.

We can say he doesn't prepare the team.....again, how the hell does ANYBODY on this forum really know? We all talk big and act like we know....but truth is we DON'T.

We can say he doesn't care anymore......any competitor past or present CARES, it's something that is in them all their lives, competitivenes is not a learned trait.

Bottom line......we all just speculate and really don't have a clue. I know I haven't been to Athens lately to witness ALL that goes on. We only see the duck on top of the water, we can't see him paddling like crazy.

I for one, maybe the only one, think AD5's posts were excellent. Do I think CMR is THE answer??? I really don't know.....but I'm willing to see his change at OC, to correct the second of his past mistakes before I make my decision.

You are a stat man. Easy enough to do with today's internet. Apparently you have not been around here long enough or did not take the time to read others threads and posts about VD. He was the head coach for far too long in MY opinion, and have stated that more than once.

What you are being asked to comment on is real easy . . . . not stats, your personal reason for wanting Richt as head coach. You seem to get lost and start throwing numbers out.

Here is one for you . . . how about 120 or so arrests that have occured on Richt's watch, making UGA the second highest in college football in that area.

If you know when you mess up that the punishment is not going to be too harsh, nothing is accomplished. Same mistakes made over and over.

If you know that you will be taken behind the woodshed for punishment . . . 9 times out of 10, it does not happen again.

Understand this, if you can, simple statement. Head Coaches responsibilities cover the entire gambit of the program. Richt is falling or has fell into the same trap that got Bobby Bowden fired. FSU had folks like you, die hards, die hards that were being influenced by sentiment. That is where I think you are at . . . .

wlayton, I don't think anybody is claiming to KNOW for a fact how Richt motivates or prepares the team, I for one am just basing that on the result I see on the field. The team seems unmotivated and unprepared quite often, IMO. Let's face it, nobody in a jury actually sees the crime committed, but based on what's presented to them in the court , like on the field for us, they can usually make an educated and accurate decision.
