Clearly AJ is a difference maker. This team will improve when he returns. I can't disagree more with those who think that AJ would have helped us win the East though. That is just putting too much weight on one player. Maybe a QB could be that type of difference maker but not a WR. This team has some much deeper problems which are related to the system, ie the coaches and their ability to create plays and inspire excellence and inexperience at key positions, ie QB. Speaking of the QB - Murray is fortunate to have a very good O line protecting him. In recent years Cox and Stafford did not have nearly the line that Murray has protecting him. Murray has some talent but he holds onto the ball waaaay too long. He needs to assess his options, make a decision and either run or throw the ball away\scramble, etc.
If Green is in the game we win at least one of those if not both. That is how he helps us win the east.
A Star WR rivals a Star QB in importance because it forces considerable defensive changes down field beyond the line.

EXACTLY.....Geez, the whole dynamics of the game changes. AJ can change a game and doesn't even have to touch the ball. The opposing D has to completely gameplan differently if he's JUST on the field. Their safeties have to move over, their corners BACK UP, their LB's have to soften up there gives our RB's more room. The seguences of plays change, down and distance changes, therefore play calling and variety changes, the chains move, our D is sitting on the sideline......Mallet is also sitting on the sideline. I could go on and on with the "snowball" effact.. Again.....superstars make coaches look brilliant not vice versa.

aj would have made a difference in the last 2 games and we might have won one or both
kd - the one execept to your comment is that a great qb can cause defensive headachs also (tebow) - although good defensive minds were beggining to figure out how to defend him - but that was only after 2 NC's
wlayton - superstars make coaches look brilliant not vice versa you hit the nail on the head - HW/VD etc

Great QBs can cause headaches of course though I will argue Tebow was a function of the system like Alex Smith or others before him.

I've already said my two cents on this topic back on page 5, just really enjoy reading the various viewpoints.
Moving on, it'll be real interesting to see IF our leader & our coaches (on BOTH sides of the ball) make any adjustments during practice this week before heading off to the land of cowbells. One thing that isn't gonna change is that AJ (our #1 talent BY FAR) will NOT be making any plays or impacting any gameplans for either team.
I sure as hell hope CMR & staff get our boys focused & come out fighting mad from the 1st whistle til the last...if we do that, win or lose, I'll be a proud Dawgie! Lot's of football left in THIS season folks. We desperately need to get back on the winning track before the wheels come off. Hope to see an angry but focused team invade Starkville on Saturday!
