Your theory of the "team" concept does not match reality of college football. College football is star player driven. Star players make coaches and teams. Tebow (and Leak) made Urban Meyer.

Take away the best player on any team and the result with be less than impressive. There are no other AJ Greens in college football.

OK, you guys got me. I'm done with the discussion. AJ didn't pull us out of our losses last year, and I guess we'll see this year if we win all of our games he plays in. Not sure how we went 8-5 last year with AJ, but, whatever.

We went 8-5 despite AJ Green. The coaching sucked. The tackling sucked. It really is not that complex.

AJ Green is the best WR UGA has ever seen. He is better than Hastings, Ward or any of the others. He demands double coverage which in turn make it easier for everyone else.

But we still have the same tackling and coaching issues this year, so I'm not really unnderstanding why we would win every game AJ plays this year, but we didn't last year.

Sorry I started the thread, so let me finish it with a question to EVERYONE.......and I want everyone to think of all of the dynamics of the question before answering:

As close as the last two games were, if AJ had played in those 2 games, do you think he would have given us just enough of an edge to have won both games?

Yes, I agree w/you wlayton...with AJ, I have no doubt we win today, & very likely beat the Gamechickens as well. We WILL be a much better team on BOTH sides of the ball when AJ returns. You nailed it!

That said, Sadlerdawg, I also agree w/you, the man in charge should be & is being questioned about his ability to LEAD our team through difficult circumstances.

What doesn't seem to be a point of contention among any of us here is that CMB is a great choice for an OC, much less a great playcaller.

I said before the season started that we could lose both our 1st SEC games (we did) or we could win em' both (we did NOT), & that I would be satisified with a split. Today's loss was a heartbreaker, we fought back valiantly only to come up short in the end as opposed to last week when we got our butts handed to us on both sides of the ball. I don't really believe in "moral victories" but I do see a definite improvement. Still, as many others have said, I don't see enough overall improvement to go to bed tonight w/o having serious concerns about the direction of our football program.

For the record, I do feel confident that we get back in the W column in Starkville next week. I don't predict the doom & gloom that many here seem to be projecting after our 2nd straight loss. We have a very green but talented QB, a new defensive philosopy, & are w/o BY FAR our best player. Things will get better in Athens THIS year! As for sustained improvement, CMR had best do some real soul searching & make the necessary adjustments while he still can.

Time for me to catch some Z's...past time for the DAWGS TO HUNKER DOWN!!!

I'll agree with that!!! Even if our discussion would make any difference in the grand scheme of things, after too many beers it's definitely time to put it on ice until tomorrow sometime!!!

Let me make myself clear on this. I'm not saying when should win every game AJ plays in, some teams are just BETTER (BAMA etc) but he is enough of a difference maker to win the EAST. Without him we have zero chance.......oh......imho. ;)
