Forget trying to figure it out

First of all I must say this has been one of the better threads on this board lately. Truly a classy run on a topic from all three involved in wlayton, sadler and KD. It is conversations like these that make me love this board and all those involved.(well most involved)

now my .02...

I have to agree with wlayton that AJ is the difference maker here. I found I have been grumbling to myself Quite a few times during the first three games that if AM is throwing that particular pass in Green's direction rather than some one else it is a huge play or a TD. Most fell incomplete.

Found this in an article in the Macon telegraph which supports this theory.

Tight ends missing

Entering the season, Georgia had so much confidence in its tight ends that it planned to use packages with two on the field. But through the past two games they have not been involved much with the offense.

Aron White was the only one to catch a pass Saturday. It was a good one, a low pass that White hauled in to set up a game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Otherwise, starter Orson Charles and White were hardly targeted.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo attributed it to Arkansas playing closer to the box, lining up safeties over the tight ends.

Just sayin'(IMO) that Safeties are not lined up over our Tight Ends if AJ is on the field. Those safeties are doubling him up, opening up others like Charles and White. Our offensive scheme and the opposition's defensive scheme changes entirely without him on the field.

We win both or split at worst these last two games with him on the field.

Thanks for such an intriguing thread folks! This may be the first time I have seen a 45 post thread and read every dadgum one of them. I usually meander through long threads and totally avoid crap like Peter "Gumz" altogether!

Yes if Green is in the game there is not team in America with 7 or 8 men in the box then.

Green standing on the field opens up the running game. Last year there were times where he was double covered from the beginning of the play AND had safety help over the top.

Ok I didn't get to see the game (was out of town) but judging from what I have read.

My question is once again, why do we start out so slow?

It appears to start the first quarter, of most of the games last few years, our defense has no idea what the other team is gonna do? I know Lattimore was a little bit of a surprise, but how long does it take to make adjustments. We should have a plan for almost any type of offense we face, why do we have to wait until half time to make changes?

Vice Versa for the offense, I don't have any stats to back this but really how many first drive touchdowns have we scored in last couple years?

It just seems we are always fighting back from behind ir letting a inferior team hang around too long............ am I imagining things ?

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

Agree avgdawg / dawgnla / kd

My question is if we and the commentators can see what's going on - why can't bozo figure it out - if this was the plan and the opponent does something to stop it - you don't have something else to try - this gets back to my problem with cuz bozo - he runs the same plays over and over and not much variety - running plays over and over is ok if your whooping somebody’s azz - like they say if it isn’t broke don't fix it - well our offense game plan is BROKE - it needs fixing - even when aj gets back - some of this might get better - but just think of what could be if we had somebody that could draw up a game plan that was a little bit different - and could change things on the fly if they don't work

GO DAWGS

I think it all comes down to coaching.

The two that come to mind immediately are WVU in the bowl game after the 2005 season and Alabama in 2008. Both games UGA came in poorly focused and got punched in the mouth early.

Clearly AJ is a difference maker. This team will improve when he returns. I can't disagree more with those who think that AJ would have helped us win the East though. That is just putting too much weight on one player. Maybe a QB could be that type of difference maker but not a WR. This team has some much deeper problems which are related to the system, ie the coaches and their ability to create plays and inspire excellence and inexperience at key positions, ie QB. Speaking of the QB - Murray is fortunate to have a very good O line protecting him. In recent years Cox and Stafford did not have nearly the line that Murray has protecting him. Murray has some talent but he holds onto the ball waaaay too long. He needs to assess his options, make a decision and either run or throw the ball away\scramble, etc.
