Who would make a good DC?

I did happen to watch the game, and while the Utah offense was good, it was the defense that dominated. 8 Sacks, 3 forced turnovers, and more importantly only allowed 31 yards on the ground. JPW threw 2 picks, where he had throw only 5 in the previous 13 games. Bama was only 30% on 3rd down conversions. Bama got dominated on defense, not so much offense. KS is a great defensive play caller, but more importantly he gets high intensity out of his players. That alone is priceless when you consider the talent that comes to UGA, compared to the production they put out.

It would be paramount to get KS. Still have one big giant elephant in the room to take care of first, CWM. No new DC if the old one is still collecting his paycheck.

If you want a DC better or just as good as MK then go after Dick Labeu(however you spell it) at Pittsburgh. Won't happen, but if you want that MK caliber DC he's your man.

Well, other than Monte, one of the next people I think of as a \"genius\" on D is Saban and KS is and has been learning from one of the best. Certainly agree with your last statement, we need to step up another level or two in coordinators for this league.

Btw, again my source says that KS would come to UGA if offered the job. If he wants to pursue a HC job, he needs to get out from under Saban's shadow and make a name for HIMSELF.

Let's wait and see. It might not be a fluke that Utah ripped him a new hole. I didn't watch the game but it is exactly the result I would expect if somebody ran WCO on him. I would definitely want to interview him and ask him what, if any, adjustments he would make when facing the various offenses like spread, wco, 3 option, and classic pro-set. We may also see a resurgence of power running in the future. Monte's weakness is when you blow out his DL gaps and put a fullback on his MLB.

But, you know .... if we upgraded both offense and defense then the demand for perfection isn't quite so high on DC. Simple fact is that nobody runs WCO in this conference. I think Lane will try but it's anybody's bet whether or not he'll be any good at it. You'd need a guy like Brad Johnson mentoring your QBs. So ... maybe Kirby could work out. We would need a better OC though. If we're going to adopt a defense knowing that it has a weakness then we need to adopt an offense with a complementary strength.

Many don't know that Brad Johnson is Mark Richt's brother-in-law. One answer to Monte is Brad. He practiced on the other side of the ball when he and Monte were in Tampa Bay. Brad knows how to attack defenses and is a disciple of the true West Coast Offense. Looking for a true OC, Brad Johnson is the man. I would personally do back flips at my age if he took over the OC position at UGA. Brad learned much from many . . . . Dungy and Gruden to name a couple. Brad played at FSU, but is from Marietta. Between Mark and Brad, the offense would not be a problem.

I had no idea Brad was related to CMR. I mentioned Brad because he is so good at reading defenses and calling audibles. Plus it was embarrassing how little Stafford was growing as a Bulldog. He obviously needed a better position coach.

Really didn't know if you guys knew or not. Brad Johnson was one tough stud when playing QB. Arm finally got old on him, but his brain is stocked with the thing that I think UGA needs right now. Monte would have his hands full with \"Brad the Bull\". With Kirby or anyone else close to that talent, along with Richt and Brad, folks bar the door.

Totally agree we need to bring in some of the guys with NFL experience. Jon Gruden loved the guy, and Gruden's West Coast Offense was one of the toughest systems to learn. Brad stepped right in and put a Super Bowl Ring on Gruden's finger.

With the talent we have at the receiving positions (including tight end) and the incoming QB's M&M, along with what appears to be a solid running back list, folks, take this for what it is worth, Florida would have its hands full, along with UT, LSU and Alabama. Next years squad is PERFECT for the WCO.

One more thing, don't think for a minute that \"Brad the Bull\" won't take it down field, he loves it. That is one thing that made the WCO in Tampa so successful when he was there. Maybe some of this conversation will bleed over into the AJC and some of the other mullet wrappers and start a ground swell. We know that they PEEP.

Really hoping that we show something against AUUBRN. :woohoo: Go Dawgs!
