Joe Cox is a better passer than Stafford ever was

I hate to double post here, but also don't forget that around campus most of the students and many on the team had a report out after Stafford decided to go into the NFL saying that Joe Cox was walking around campus being a jerk and acting as if we was god's gift to the world. As a person who went to UGA before joining the army, I can say that if any of that is true I would never support Joe Cox. Of course it was in the paper but obviously many stories are infactual, but I'm throwing that out there.

I said after week 1 that I didn't think Cox would still be starting QB by mid-season. I was wrong, and humbly apologize to Mr. Cox.

I said over the summer (on the Oklahoma State boards) that Cox would be smart with the ball and not do things that would get the Dawgs beat. That seems to be dead on accurate. I'm glad I got something right.

GATA! Woof!

I couldn't decide which thread to join!!..While the 6 page discourse on Coach Bobo is in full flame and is sooooooo tempting, this thread flips all my switches. First and foremost, on the basis of the subject line, \"Joe Cox is a better passer than Stafford ever was.\" it all depends on which QB elements you value. Stafford was a thoroughbred, a prototypical machine destined for the NFL. He had all the passes in his arsenal and a cannon for an arm. The problem with Matt wasn't his arm, or the inability of receivers catching his passes, it was his ten cent head! Stafford was no leader, he was an individual, cut from similar cloth as Quincy. That was apparent almost everytime the camera captured him on the sideline. Stafford was notorious for forcing the ball, believing his arm could get him out of every situation. Sometimes it worked and he was a hero. Mostly, however, it didn't, resulting in incomplete passes, interceptions and/or overthrows....UGA has never really had a QB like Stafford, we've had some good and not so good ones, but none that garner the #1 pick even with stats that aren't quite the caliber one would expect, given the lord provided talent!

Conversely, Joe Cox is as tactician, a student of the game, a manager. He has a adequate arm, that is accurate. He was tutored by DJ and knows the playbook inside out. Joe IS a leader. He accepts responsibility for faults, aggressively and outspokenly inspires the team. Somuchso that the entire team trusts and is willing to follow his lead....something MS never had, nor aspired to acquire. Joe realizes his limitations and has set his sights on coaching as a career after college. Sure he won't be wallowing in millions of dollars, but he will make alot more than 40K. Furthermore, Joe stuck it out and never quit on his school, even after the MS/CMR/Bobo trifecta began. In my book, Joe is a DGD! Joe is like almost every other successful QB at Georgia. Had Joe had 3 or 4 years to amass records, perhaps he would be mentioned in the same breath as Zeier and Greene. Unfortunately, we will never know the totality of Joe's contributions to the Dawg Nation beyond this season. IMVHO, I would take a boat load of QB's like JC, than those like MS everyday!

As for the original subject line turned Bobo disection, Stafford left for the money! I don't blame him one bit. His time spent at Georgia amounts to prep work, under the type of tutelage that will and has translated into mucho dinero. I never suspected MS to be much more than he turned out to be...and while he possesses some impressive records and accolades, he could have reached epic, legendary status, had he taken but one page from Tim Tebow's book on leadership...over, done with, gone...turn the page....

Moreno,...I hated to see him go. Unlike MS, his situation was based on a variety of issues..and $$$ was certainly one of them. His position alone dictated his tenure and given the short time span, Moreno left when the opportunity presented itself. Moreno was a beast, very similar to a DE that wore 47..and I miss his passion, sportsmanship and zeal for the game.

IMO both players left for $$$...I'll miss one, the other...not so much. But every passing year another class of no stars to thoroughbreds join the family. Who knows which name we will be lifting on high or castigating for not living up to our fanatic expectations!...So goes the life and times of another football season!!!

Good call RxCow/Dawgboy. That is exactly what JC is doing.

As for the comparison btw. MS & JC, there are two different types of QBs so it's hard to compare but I'll just say this:

If JC continues to show the fire and the leadership and keeps leading our offense to huge numbers, I'll be buying me a #14 jersey. I NEVER had the desire to own a #7 jersey.

GOOOOOO JOE COX!!!
