Another thing that comes to my mind is both Thomas and newcomer Smith sitting deep in the hole for kickoff returns. That could be big time productive on our part. Who do you kick the football to with these two split on the deep end? That is truly double trouble facing you on returns. I know that we have others that want to return kicks, just saying that combo would scare the heck out of me if I'm coaching the other side.
For some reason, just having a few problems with Caleb. He was a hot commodity coming out of high school, just like Brown. Sometimes too much press tends to alter some young football players outlook. Big step from high school to college, much like moving from college to pro. Competition gets much keener with each step. Would love to see Caleb step up and be the back that had many college scouts so turned on.
Would love to have a \"stud\" RB, those don't come along too often. Herschel, Knowshon types have/had that \"it\" factor that many don't have when they step up a notch.
One thing I know for sure . . . . we do have running backs at UGA right now that can match up with most schools in the country. Man, I am ready for this college season to get under way. :woohoo:

I've never really liked RB by committee myself......prefer a \"go to guy\" like KM etc and give him a breather once in a while. Just believe a \"go to\" RB gets into a good rythm both running, blocking and receiving where by committee it's harder to do and can hurt the continuity of a drive.
You know, wlayton, Richt has won championships with both systems. In 2002, Musa Smith was the go-to back, whereas in 2005 we had Lumpkin, Brown and Ware. Plus DJ, of course. I just think it depends on whether or not we have the right three guys back there. I like Samuels and love Thomas...not sold on Caleb yet...

Just like that one bigtime guy you can always count on.
By committee may work but sometimes they rotate in there cold, with no rythm and sometimes even their concentration breaks. UGA, in my opinion, has been a more \"dangerous\" offensive team when we've had the Herchels, Hearst's and KM's.

Caleb did average 4 yard a carry last year. He's proved he can carry at the next level, something Thomas hasn't done yet. With that said, I hope Thomas does but at this point I Would have to buy Caleb before Thomas.
