Unfortunately, you are right, wlayton. Nobody has stepped out and taken the bull by the horns yet. As I mentioned in another thread, Samuel, King, and Thomas all looked in great shape at the Countdown to Kickoff in mid-July. Ealey will be in the mix also. Might get redshirted. I hope he is so good that they can't redshirt him this year. I hear he is taking the #24 jersey. Big shoes to fill.
Sorry I was gone for a while, but as always, it is always good to share opinions with you, my friend.;)

What worries me is you said nobody has stepped forward YET. I'm not so sure there is a \"yet\" with this corp of RB's. I believe they will redshirt Ealey.

Great that you are back....season getting close.....everybody needs to return.

Guys, call me old school, but I want a back in there who wants the ball in his hands every time a play is run. With that being said, I also wants that back to be smart enough to take himself out for a play or two when he is gassed. A stalled drive and a punt is much better than a fumble.

watson, that's how Thomas Brown established himself. Sure, it took the coaching staff a little while to catch on and figure out that Thomas needed to be the starter and not Kregg Lumpkin or Danny Ware, but his work ethic and tenacity are what made him one of the leading rushers in UGA history. I'd like to see all three of our backs used (in a similar fashion to 2005) to see who our feature back is. There's also something to be said for, once that feature back is established, the presence of \"fresh legs\" on a back who anywhere else could be starting.

I think what the Dude is trying to say, here, is that it's a good problem to have, at least on paper.

The Dude is also trying to say, GO DAWGS!

I have to agree with you dapolla. We are probably going to use all three backs this year. Hopefully one will step forward as our feature back.
I wasn't trying to disrespect Thomas Brown, I was just saying that he never had that superstar year. He ran for 873, 736, 256, 779. Great career numbers, yes. That one superstar year. No. Could the lack of a 1000 yard season be attributed to the coaching staff giving the ball to Lumpkin and Ware? Of course. We all know what happened when KM came along. The coaching staff didn't take long to recognize who the feature back was. KM became that dominant back his Freshman year. It is a shame he only stayed with us for two years (three including his redshirt year.) You also have to give Thomas Brown props for staying four years.
