Steering the ship back to GA/FL conversation, I find that SDS has their finger on the pulse...

They give Mac a 20% chance of returning to Cesspoolville next season. I wonder if there will be masses of FU fans up in arms like many UGA fans were when CMR was given his walking papers? Will we hear the FL fanbase heralding his two SEC East championships in his 2 seasons at the helm? Will we hear them crying out, asking how could a coach with such a winning record be canned after only three seasons, one of those in which he won SEC coach of the year? Will we hear about him having top 10 recruiting classes? Somehow I think not.
I keep my nose pretty close to the ground in the football world in my home state, have many friends back home who watch HS football intently, and eat, sleep, breathe college football. In a nutshell, what I've been told from the Bull Gaytors is that FL's big money is pissed at what they view as a tectonic shift in college football being played in the State of Florida. Florida is no longer a program that is the top of the pack in the State. It is a program that is now lagging behind Miami and USF in terms of talent, fundamentals, gameplay, and recruiting. Mark my words, USF is going to make some noise in the very near future. USF has been on a trajectory to be relevant since the days of Jim Leavitt when they were ranked #2 in the nation, and they're finally getting their place at the big boy table as a major Florida program with Charlie Strong. FU on the other hand, is in disarray.
I can't emphasize enough how furious the FU fan base and big money boosters are with the state of Mac's de-railing program. It is VERY telling that Florida released a statement basically saying that McElwain was challenged by the school on his "death threats" comments to the media and Mac offered no details, therefore, the school wouldn't stand behind them. That speaks volumes as to where both parties are right now. FU didn't have to come out and say that he offered no details to corroborate his statement, it could have remained silent and just let this pass. Instead, the published that in an official press release on the matter.
I watched his presser this Monday, the one with the "death threats" allusion, and that presser was filled with nothing but praise for Kirby from the FU media. It was laughable how the FU media was just heaping praise on Kirby, even going as far as to ask Mac what Kirby is doing to bring such success in Athens and whether he was happy for Kirby. Mac sounded, looked, and conveyed absolute defeat. His body language said he didn't want to be there, he had no answers, and he looked exhausted. If he's exhausted now, wait until after Saturday.
My money is on Mac being gone at season's end in FU's emergency scramble to maintain relevancy and try to abate the utter train wreck that program finds itself in.
As a side note - I'll go out on a limb and say that Jimbo has two more seasons max to turn his failing program around. FSU isn't going to sit idly by as they continue to descend with FU into irrelevancy. Not being bowl eligible for a program like FSU is absolutely unacceptable, injuries or not. FSU is patient, and Jimbo gets another season for sure. But if next season mirrors this one, his seat will be blistering hot by the start of 2019.
