So I had a long reply typed up and then I lost it. Yay...
Basic thoughts -
This team better have gotten the wake up call Kirby talked about after the Mizzou game. It better have paid attention to the Bama UT game. I've been reading the Gaytor forums and seeing the usual chatter - "we own Georgia," "Georgia is due for a Georgia," "who have they played?," "this team is overrated," "upset special coming," "Georgia is the king of dreams," "nearly 40 years since that team did anything."
Good.
Good good good. I love it. I hope some of those statements are taped on players lockers.
I will be completely objective and say that I haven't seen the same edge out of the defense that I saw in Obnoxville. I haven't seen the same speed off the snap, the same intensity, and the same "edge" that I saw in that game. That's not to say we've played poorly nor am I saying that we've "played down" to our opponents, it's to say we've not played at that same level. And that level is what wins championships.
A team can only be expected to dominate based upon raw emotion a couple times a season. UT was one of those games. FU had better be another.
Keys to this game are from start to finish, play with an intensity and a ferocity that we haven't seen. Explode off the snap. Fast and physical. Get the early lead and its game over. Control emotions. Focus. Dominate both sides of the ball. Florida isn't a come-from-behind program. This is the first team FU will have faced all season that they absolutely cannot rely on Lucky Charms to win them the game. That means its fundamentals, and Georgia has them covered up in fundamental football. We're getting guys back from injury and they need to make their presence felt early and often. FU ain't used to seeing 5 backs all with fresh legs. There's no reason why we shouldn't have 350 yards of combined rushing in this game.
I don't know what FU's best is, but you can rest assured they're going to bring their best. They want to play world wreckers for us. Don't let them even sniff that possibility. I expect some creative play-calling from Chaney. Look for some good play actions, maybe even another flea flicker, reverses, etc. I expect to see some plays we haven't seen this season to get the crowd into it early.
If Georgia loses this game, it will be one of the most inexcusable losses in my lifetime.
Break their will. Do it early, and keep breaking it all game. Don't stop scoring on them until 60 minutes ticks off. If we're up 51-0 with 1:06 left in the 4th, make it 58-0. If we're up 58-0, make it 65-0. The game stops when the game clock runs down to 0:00.
Break their will. No excuses. Go in there and take it.
Let Florida know it's over. Let there be no confusion as to who owns who.
