This is the first time in a long time that I've heard the local gators fans say that they're not looking forward to this game. Says a lot to me.

As a dawg fan, this has been a tough game for as long as I remember. Expectations have seldom matched reality. But that was a different team and a different time.

We've talked about culture change, and this week is where the rubber truly meets the road. I honestly don't think the mindset of this Georgia team is the same as that of previous teams. No more expecting close games. No more head games.

Realistically, Georgia is in a different league than the gators. We beat them like a drum in almost any state that matters. We're 14 point favorites, and I'll personally give those points all day long with this team.

We can spin the smack talk all we want, make all the dubious connections to the past, and worry ourselves silly that the ghosts of WLOCPs past will rear their heads and gut our season. But this is not your daddy's Dawgs. I'm sure the passion and storied history of this rivalry will be good for a close quarter. But not this year, my friends. If you've been watching. If you've been paying attention, you know that something is different about Georgia. And, to be clear, by "different" I mean "better." Significantly better.

Florida has struggled in every game they've played this year. Georgia has not. You can drum up all the bulletin board smack talk you want in an effort to detract from the 800lb gorilla in the room, but the truth is that the gorilla is a comfortable Georgia win, and the drum getting beaten this weekend is the gators.

I'll take UGA at -14 any day. That's a juicy line.

Limey, beautiful thoughts and I second them wholeheartedly.

Same here. Been talking to all my poor impoverished Gaytor friends back home and the mood is disgust and resignation. Their fan base really is ready to run Mac & Co. out of town.

When I brought up the trash talk the FU players have been engaging in, his response was sharp: "those stupid m............ just need to shut their mouths! Like they've done something to merit that .... talk?! It shows the stupidity of our program that we've got a guy trash talking who, when you Google his name, it autofills "missed tackles" behind it. Mac is letting this team fall out of focus. This guy is a loser. Mac is a loser. You guys are going to trash us this game. I may not even watch it."

I agree. Things are different now. There's a steely-eyed seriousness out of this coaching staff that frankly, we aren't used to seeing. But boy do I love it. I love every second of it. It's what I knew we were getting when Kirby showed up in Athens.

It's a great day to be a Dawg!

SouthernDawg said this above . . . .Things are different now. There's a steely-eyed seriousness out of this coaching staff that frankly, we aren't used to seeing.

Here is hoping that the "talent waste" times in Athens for many years has come to an end.

When a talent such as the one below leaves the Sunshine State to play for Georgia, shows the strength of the recruiting staff now employed in Athens. Dell McGee is all that. James Coley is also involved with this recruit . . . . these two coaches are not finished with the State of Florida. Crossed fingers again that we can keep both.

This young man commits to Georgia, bet this . . . . he will get a lot of snaps, just a super running back that always looks for the goal line. If James Cook signs with us, sends a message to those not only in South Florida, but the Tallahassee and Gainesville areas also.

This piece was posted by Dylan Weber, Dawg Post site. Like Dylan's work, does a very good job IMO.

Coaching staff taking a low key publicly, bet this . . . . Beating the gators in JAX is bigger than big.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

ATHENS- Kirby was screaming, Tray Scott was screaming and you know James Coley was screaming. Yeah, it was another normal practice for the Georgia Bulldogs.

The past two days have been a little quiet during practice, especially for Florida week. Kirby took his time going position-by-position during media viewing session Monday and Tuesday, offering advice but not laying into players as usual. Even a lot of the other coaches, while being loud, never were really yelling in the time we got to watch. Today though was completely different. Within seconds of us getting to the practice fields Kirby was over by the outside linebackers and defensive ends letting them know his opinion very loudly. Scott didn't monitor his language one bit for us as he laid into the defensive line. And for Coley... Well, he was Coley. The coaches might have seemed fired up, but the players seemed very relaxed and confident. They were working hard but they didn't seem angry, they just looked ready to beat down Florida.

When I was watching, the defensive line was working on stunts in their warmups, which wasn't out of the blue. What was interesting was the first group up in drills: Johnathan Ledbetter, John Atkins and Tyler Clark. A noticeable absence of Trenton Thompson among that group, who looked to be working with the twos. It's hard to definitively say if Thompson will start this Saturday, but of the look I got, it seemed like his snap count may be reduced against the Gators.

Jayson Stanley fully returned to practice today after missing time with a lower leg injury. He was catching balls with the rest of the receivers today at full speed. Yes, he was catching the balls. But that isn't what Georgia needs him to do. His return will not only be a big help in the special teams this weekend but also in the run game where his run blocking outside has proven to be a real X-factor for this Georgia offense.
