Southern, like your style. I don't care for Harbaugh's over the top stuff, but I give him credit for one thing: UM is coming back. He is Lane Kiffin except he can in fact coach. KS does not fear JH--he respects what he can do, but does not fear him.

I'd rather 3-4 from ga go to UM every year as long as they stop going to UT.

If UT didn't get GA players, they would be a 7-5 program. I was born there. It does not have the HS coaching we have in Ga. Or the money--though Nashville is on the rise. Nice place to live.

But Ga does not have to leave GA to win a NC. UT and AU do. With KS at UGA and Saban at Bama, UT and AU may as well pack it up and wait a decade or so.

Spot on with the UT and AU portion of the post BulldogShannon. Really glad to see you back again. Same thoughts on SouthernDawg.

For the most part, believe that Scooby is having a good time with us. Once in a while he says some things to spur interest. Will say this . . . . there have been folks come to Dawgs.com that thought they were all that, soon found out different and left for parts unknown. Scooby quite frankly does not run. Hope he stays. Do believe that he knows the members on this board are a cut or two above some sites.

Have no doubts that Alabama and Georgia will do a double team on both UT and AU.

Really like the mixture in the coaching staff that Smart has hired. Coaches from all over, but coaches that are familiar with the SEC.

Kirby saw a lot of coaching talent come and go in Tuscaloosa while he was there. Most that were there for a reason . . . . Never get too old to learn. Many have learned a lot about football and its finer workings being around Nick Saban.

Believe this folks, if Saban cannot sign every player he wants, and there is a long line/list, he will not pass up Kirby Smart and UGA if we are interested. More to football than x's and o's, you know very well Shannon. Saban and Smart are more than head coaches, especially when it comes to the nine years they spent together.

Go Dawgs :)

Agree Buc. There is genuine respect from NS to KS. Believe that.

You know me Buc, I may go away for 6 months because "life" happens, but I always come back:)

Scooby. love having you as part of this board. Don't always agree with you, but you are all red, white and blue=your colors don't run. Most people run in today's world.

Buc, for the first time since Erk was DC. I actually feel calm and relaxed about my team. Who knows, KS may end up being the worst coach we ever had; but, my gut tells me differently.

I know you old timers remember the Gators days with Charlie Pell and before and all the 3-8 UF teams. It was always said even back then, if UF ever got the right coach (Spurrier, Meyer) it would awaken a sleeping giant.

KS has awakened a sleeping giant: "Home grown", "special teams" "#93Kday", "energy".,................I don;t know what type coach he will be, but I know one thing: this team will have more talent within 3 years than we have ever had before. And all things equal, talent wins out.

believe this: if NS thinks he's losing a player from the state of Bama, he will "steer" him to UGA over AU. And KS will return the favor. I am not bragging Buc, but I'm willing to bet I have read more books by/about NS than anyone on this board and know one thing: he LOVED Smart. Many coaches did not survive with NS. NS adored KS's work ethic. NS never tolerated anything but 100% unconditional support and work ethic. KS is one of the few to last 9 years with him.

NS is old school
he will always love KS. He will support him behind the scenes. I expect many battles between the two before NS hangs it up. I's be happy to win 40% of those matchups because in my humble opinion, NS is to college football what Lombardi was to the AFL/NFL and what Wooden was to NCAA basketball. Simply the best.

Head to head, with even teams, neutral site, NS beats Bear Bryant 65% of the time
to borrow your line Buc: "I said that".

PS: Don't be discouraged if Eason does not come along as fast as Stafford did. MS played in Texas--much better competition than Eason competed against. I have no problem with Lambert/Ramsey starting and Eason getting a couple series a game his first year until he is ready. Something tells me with a new smash mouth philosophy on offense, Lambert/Ramsey/Eason will do alright.

Don't forget, we got Beamer Ball in town, and know this: Frank Beamer will be an unofficial coach and lend his knowledge to his son and the program. We won't have to score 35-40 points a game the way Stafford and Murray had to do to win ballgames. David Greene was a fine QB, but in his 4 years at UGA, we gave up 30+ points ONE time (LSU, look it up)......Stafford and Murray would have won NC's if they had David Green's defense.

I know that may be blasphemy, but that is my opinion. Murray, Zeire, and Stafford were all better QB's than Greene. I love Greene. But DG had much better defense and special teams to work with.

I like Scooby. I don't have to agree with everyone on the board and much to his credit, even if he appears to give a troll-ish post, he has the decency to stick around and have a back-and-forth about it as Buc mentioned. I also like the fact that he can represent himself on here without getting personal in the rhetoric. A lot to be said for that.

I don't post on any forums any longer other than Dawgs.com. I have found that 99% of them are a waste of time - particularly when it comes to sports. My life is simply too busy right now to devote time to inputting thought and conversation on a forum where I'm surrounded by complete idiots. Just sayin'.

While a lot has been said about transfers and the way transfers are handled.

Reminds me that sometimes too many irons can be in the fire. For instance . . . . I look at the number of Senators and Representatives within the “Beltway in DC”. No doubt that every one of those elected are supposed to represent the particular group that makes it possible for them to be there.

Always “outsiders” want and have their say. Nothing wrong with that, unless . . . . you start pointing your finger at those that have selected the person(s) chosen to represent them.

So, to Mike Golic especially . . . . who the hell are you to agree with pointing a finger at anyone? Realize that you did not, but you supported the finger pointing. Again you are living in that “Glass House”, should not be tossing/throwing rocks. Big body, small gray matter.

I read a lot of articles that I don't post here. Articles that come from all over the college football world. Long and short of opinions on the UGA way of handling this particular isssue, can be separated by State Lines and Conferences. Outside the SEC Conference areas, one would think that World War III started with Smart's decision. Why do I say Smart's decision . . . . because it was his decision, damn sure not made by Mahogany Row or McGarity. They simply wised up to “change, positive change”. New head coach has support from UGA Football Fans that understand the game. Those on the upper levels, big seats knew our program had "slipped" and had to step out quickly and not allow Kirby Smart to get his signature validated in Columbia, South Carolina. South Carolina Row understood that they needed someone that had trained under Saban. Muschamp understands that he was "second choice". Yes, Nick Saban has been that good. His formula is out, Kirby Smart totally understand the "Saban formula" and it is moving forward in Athens, one step at a time. They are "quick steps".

Some on this board and many that came later appear to me to like someone stepping up, allow me this . . . . doing the same thing that Jeremy Pruitt did, followed by another member that coached successful football in Tuscaloosa, Kirby Smart. One lesson learned under Nick Saban . . . . stand your ground, protect the “system”, it works. The "system" is proven. Check the recruiting angle and the National Championships recently.

Not through with M&Mx2, they started this, they will lose. Greeny apologizing, never happen. Golic waking up on Monday thinking it is Saturday . . . . the "gufus groupies" never catch on.

And this . . . . See where another Nick Saban pupil got a big raise . . . . Jim McElwain. Also noticed that Kirby Smart is number ten (10) on the list of highest compensated head coaches in the SEC. No surprise there, I keep in mind that Kirby could have gotten more. What Kirby Smart did not do was hold up the McGarity vault, he came in knowing that the Gamecocks were willing to pay "much more". Welcome home Kirby Smart. We know. We talk. We are a lot more familiar with UGA Football than some that sit in Butts-Mehre. Nuff said.

Go Dawgs

BulldogShannon wrote: Scooby, Buc is spot on. You already know the answer to that my friend. KS was hired to do one thing and one thing only. Kids need to know that when they make coaches kisses their butts for 3 years of recruiting and taking a lot of time away from their own families while out kissing said butt, that kid had better know he is committing to a SCHOOL, not a man.

My daughter is only 10 but her soccer club is already keeping her updated on what type school she should realistically consider based on her current progression. (Think football is bad? They start even earlier in soccer). And believe me, her club TELLS MY DAUGHTER, MYSELF, AND MY WIFE we had better pick the school for our daughter based on academics and comfortability because the coach may not always be there.

I can assure you AJ knew going in that CMR was not guaranteed to always be there. Someone in his high school at some point told him about life outside of football.

BDShannon, my daughters were into competitive swimming from 10-18. They were on a club that was not over the top on training. By this I mean they practiced every afternoon instead of morning and afternoon. Both very strong one top 20 or so in state meets. They had a hard time deciding to give up swimming in college. Had "scholarship" offers that basically made it cost as much at a small school as going to a state supported university.

For me it was a very happy day when they decided to go to a major in state university instead of a smaller school so they could swim. They both tell me today they are happy with their choice. I kind of felt bad nudging them in the direction I nudged, but I nudged in the direction I felt was right.

Reading about your daughter made me think about this. Pretty cool you are coaching her!
