Chief Growl, I think that was a "great post" sir. Much like averagedawg, small amount of words to get the point across.
Comes a time when some have seen the same "stuff" played over and over and quite frankly get a bit fed up with "stuff".
Would love to see this . . . .
Folks get serious about football. Football in Georgia, much like what we see coming from Alabama. Serious.
Every year, for many years the AJC and others rev up the "supposed" UGA Football Fans in a frenzy. "Supposed" . . . . that means "Bleeding Hearts" to me.
After a gator loss or whatever, the media speaks to the same folks in a different "tone".
OMT. That is one more time.
Have heard the same "stuff" for many years. Tonight I laid out 55 years that I have been looking for the "Promised Land".
ONE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in the 55 YEARS. Do not feel sorry for me as a UGA backer. I feel sorry for those that follow me if the "higher ups" are allowed to "continue". Said that.
Welcome HOME Kirby Smart. Here is hoping that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Some of us understand the game, maybe more than you and others might think. While sitting in Sanford Stadium is ok for some, there are others like myself that "want more".
Some of us still have problems with Greg McGarity being able to raise millions of dollars for a IPF and allow some of "us" to walk through pp on Saturdays. Bad choices are not always made at the Head Coaching position.
Go Dawgs
EDIT: Not through yet . . . . This group of coaches (UGA) understand the overall college football game. More to college football than playing the "media game". Mark Richt did that (played the media game) and continues to do that in Miami. If that is doubted, come back to this board, Dawgs.com and you along with the membership on Dawgs.com can and will discuss that.

So I'm on a road trip back to the sunshine state and decided to drop tent stakes in Macon. Been chatting with everyone I could out & about in Georgia since crossing the state line and the general consensus is pure excitement over Smart & Company moving forward.
Struck up a conversation with the cute southern belle behind the check-in counter when she saw my UGA bags. She said that her whole family is very much behind Kirby & what McGarity did, but two of her brothers are now Miami fans and have forsaken all ties with UGA over the dismissal of the former coach. I told her she should be happy about that - because they were never UGA fans in the first place. This purge needed to happen. Plenty of room for ex-UGA bleeding hearts in Coral Gables. Good riddance.
Talked to a guy when I stopped for gas and his response was that Kirby gets it. He said "thank God we finally got someone talking about building from the lines." Amen.
Talked to a guy at the hotel and his response was that Kirby was more than a home run hire - he might have saved what was left of the dignity of the Georgia program. I found it interesting to hear him say "We've been living on our reputation for far too long. As much as I love Herschel and lived through those days - those days are gone and I'm ready for new memories to be built. Face it - we were a paper tiger under Richt. No one in the national media or any one in the 'football know' took us seriously or thought we really had a chance at anything. They all loved Richt and they'd give Georgia their props due to Richt being who he is. But all of the love shown to this program had nothing to do with what we were putting on the field. Our program was circling the drain and finally it seems like we've got someone there who is plugging the drain and stopping it."
There's a buzz around spring practice and lots of red around here tonight. I might go down to the bar a little later and do some more non-scientific data gathering.
Just thought I'd share with my dawgs.com family what the "man on the street" is saying about Smart and Company moving forward here in the peach state. When I get back home tomorrow, I'm going to see what everyone is saying around my neck of the Sunshine State. Also plan on talking to some people "in the know" of the Miami program what's shaking with the good man's takeover of the U thus far.
Ears to the ground, nose has picked up the scent. Will report back more later.

I am not one of Buc's "bleeding hearts", but I still want to see what is produced on the playing field. I was one of the first on this board to comment on the lack of fire in the belly of our X coach. There was an old cheer the student body use to chant when we played a school from Alabama. It goes like this---I don't give a dam for the whole state of Ala-Bam, the whole state of Ala-Bam, the whole state of Ala-Bam, cause I'm from UGA, I'm from UGA, I'm from UGA, I don't give a dam for the whole state of Ala-Bam cause I'm from UGA. That still rings loud & clear to my ears. Smart & company need to show me something before I can be fired up. Just an Old Dawg I guess & I really don't care what "his holiness" MR is doing at the U. You know where students go that can't cut the mustard at UGA or Tech? They end up at Alabama or Auburn. I am proud of Georgia's academics & I don't want that to see it compromised by lowering our admissions for student athletes. Yes I want to win, but only doing it the right way. I hope that's what CKS has in mind.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
