While I can agree with the concept of academic standards of excellence, I look at some of the star athletes at "elite" schools and I certainly don't see elite students.
If you want to win you can't worry to much about the academic abilities of the players. Actually, if you just want to half way compete you can't worry about it. That's kind of the elephant in the room for college football and basketball. Many of the guys don't have the academic skills to be there. I don't have any stats to back my thoughts, just my spidy senses. I know it's been like this forever, just seems to be getting worse.
Scooby, That's why I'm a big Georgia fan & not so much a football fan. If the Ivy league can do it, why can't Georgia do it??? Wasn't that much of a problem when I was in undergrad school, jocks took the same classes as the rest of students. Of course that was before integration. Oh well, what can I say. Not against the system as it is today, just don't like the out come. An Old Fart said that.
As always, GO DAWGS Anyway!!!!!!!!!!

Proof of the pudding, Yale beats Baylor, & their students attend classes. Don't knock the Ivy League, that's where college football got started.
