Edit.. Just reading about Dennis, and he beat out mike price for starting qb in high school. Also, his salary as Washington state head coach in 1987 was 70k. WoW, the times have changed. My pay is 3.5 times what t was in 87. College football coach is about 25 times more.

I think of all those below average coaches who won NC's...
Larry Coker... Gene Chizik.. Dennis E if you want to count him...

Then I think about another man who had some of the best talent in the NCAA year after year after year. Near the top of the college football ranks for 15 years in terms of talent that moved on and played in the NFL... yet inexplicably he couldn't get just a single one like those others did.

It really defies all logic.

Edit2... Just reading about top coaches to never win a championship. Mr was not very high on the list. Would have liked seeing Beamer win one. Would like to see Dabo win one too.

When were either of those guys at any Florida school as a head coach that won a NC Scooby?

I'm still waiting on the list of several "so-so" head coaches at the North Florida schools to win a NC. I suspect I'll be waiting a long time to hear that list.

Only so so coaches to win nc were in south Florida. I'm still not completely sold on jumbo. I will say I would not want to see jameis (sp?) in my school jersey even for a natty.
