Several things that Head Coach Kirby Smart said in the question and answer session that caught my attention.

Kirby spoke about "depth" both on the offensive and defensive line. Dawgs.com members have discussed depth for "years". Did not start this year or last year.

Kirby also mentions that SEC Football is a conference that demands solid defensive teams. That takes this old man back to several comments I and others have made . . . . Defense has been the backbone of SEC football longer than any conference in D1 football.

Kirby hit briefly on "Special Teams" . . . . surprise me, nope. Tells me that the Head Coach knows one of the areas in Athens that was neglected basically for 15 years.

Know that many members here have those work days, but will get to watch Kirby Smart sometime today.

Feel that many here will have much to say about areas that I did not mention, look forward to that.

Feels great to have a LEADER, and Kirby Smart is a LEADER.

Go Dawgs, Coach'em Up!! :)

You know Buc, at times BAMA needed to shore up their special teams as well......they have had few moments themselves (not nearly as much as UGA).

Typical post from this person, starts with "fluff" then shows his true feelings. AJC loves this "stuff".

I have no disrespect for Smart, and I hope he leads UGA to alot of success. But remember, unless he wins more than 10 games a year (because we know that 10 games isn't hard to do, since Richt did it so often) and wins an SEC title every other year (because we know how easy it is to win the SEC East, and we fired Richt because he didn't do it enough) and wins the National Title every four or so years (because its our birthright) then he has to be fired, or firing Richt didn't make sense.

He hopes that Kirby Smart leads UGA to a lot of success. To that I say sir, BS.

That's the narrative change that the Richt supporters want you to believe about the non-Richt commentary.

No one I know of demanded 10 games every year, an SEC title every other year, and a NC every 4.

Classic straw-man argument:

www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/straw-man.html

This is more like it:

Beats someone other than the patsies on our schedule that we should beat 98% of the time with out eyes shut, competes for an SEC title regularly and maybe wins more than one a decade, and is in the NC playoffs conversation sometime after the month of October.

I absolutely hate it when people twist a rationale position into something it never was, and that's what angered me most about Richt's most ardent supporters over the past few years... twisting any anti-Richt sentiment into something absurd.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

There has been a lot of conversation on this board recently about Will Muschamp and whether or not he would return to Athens as the defensive coordinator under Kirby Smart.

That did not happen, think most folks are happy that he did not land here.

Cannot tell you how good I feel about this loose cannon being selected by South Carolina.

Takes "another" shot at Georgia in his press conference. Mentioned here several times just how bad he acted concerning UGA while the gators head coach.

I am supremely happy that Kirby Smart is home.

Close second to Kirby Smart being named head coach . . . . muschamp not landing in Athens. Say again, he has "problems".

Will be interesting to see how South Carolina Athletic Director Tanner handles what is sure to be a rerun of muschamp in Florida, Auburn and Texas.

Does show the extremes some coaches and athletic directors will go to for wins. I love wins, I have no room for a mentally challenged muschamp.

I was touched by Smart's emotion in his opening statements.
Clearly this is the job he dreamt about.
Welcome home, Kirby.

Shortly after 12:30pm the air in Athens undertook a major

Cleaning....to match it has been a sunny and cloudless blue sky all day..

Buc...the stalls in the barn have been cleaned and painted

CKS is in the air to Washington state to eyeball to eyeball

To tell JE what his vision for Georgia football is and wanting him to be a large part.....
Does not take a genius to know if your team has a very good defense

You won't have to play high risk catch up offense....a very good thing

Classic City just got a little more classier....Go Dawgs

Go Dawgs!
