Monday Thoughts - Kirby Smart's 2016 Schedule

Press conference over.

Several things that Head Coach Kirby Smart said in the question and answer session that caught my attention.

Kirby spoke about "depth" both on the offensive and defensive line. Dawgs.com members have discussed depth for "years". Did not start this year or last year.

Kirby also mentions that SEC Football is a conference that demands solid defensive teams. That takes this old man back to several comments I and others have made . . . . Defense has been the backbone of SEC football longer than any conference in D1 football.

Kirby hit briefly on "Special Teams" . . . . surprise me, nope. Tells me that the Head Coach knows one of the areas in Athens that was neglected basically for 15 years.

Know that many members here have those work days, but will get to watch Kirby Smart sometime today.

Feel that many here will have much to say about areas that I did not mention, look forward to that.

Feels great to have a LEADER, and Kirby Smart is a LEADER.

Go Dawgs, Coach'em Up!! :)

Things are changing.
Thank God.

I thought his answer to the question where CMR's exit statements about not being able to have as much of a hands-on approach with his offense and if Kirby felt that he will be able to retain a hands-on approach with the defense now that he's head coach was the shining moment of the presser: "hell I'll have my hands on every aspect of this program."

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Raucous applause from the media room.

Times are a changin fellas.

Kirby Smart’s offensive philosophy remains mysterious

This is what the AJC beat reporter offers as his first article after the Kirby Smart press conference?

When this particular reporter first landed in Georgia, having left South Carolina, felt we had a young man that was going to be far ahead of what we have read from those that have hung around far too long in the Georgia media.

Actually sent him an email soon after he started with another group (not AJC). He was really good it appeared.

Strange things happen when the "pay checks increase" and certain standards have to be met. Guess that is why they basically "blog", sure as hell don't understand the game. All about the "clicks" and a seat in Butts-Mehre.

Bet this, Kirby Smart is far and away different than the coach that departed for Miami.

Sad way to start.

Great presser, thanks Buc.

Liked his answer when he was asked if he was going to be hands on with the D and he quickly stated he's going to be hands on with EVERYTHING......couldn't help but chuckle at the guy asking the question.

Edit: sorry SouthernDawg, think we were posting at the same time......interesting the same thing stood out to us with the same reaction.

Buc, Kirby's answer was concise and clear.
Adaption to situations.
I found nothing in Smart's remarks ambiguous at all.

That was the best response of the presser!
