I liked the fact that he told Chip Towers that he didn't need to validate anything for him when Pouty asked for him to validate his opportunities to take other HC jobs.

   Take that, Chip, lol

This is what the AJC beat reporter offers as his first article after the Kirby Smart press conference?

When this particular reporter first landed in Georgia, having left South Carolina, felt we had a young man that was going to be far ahead of what we have read from those that have hung around far too long in the Georgia media.

Actually sent him an email soon after he started with another group (not AJC). He was really good it appeared.

Strange things happen when the "pay checks increase" and certain standards have to be met. Guess that is why they basically "blog", sure as hell don't understand the game. All about the "clicks" and a seat in Butts-Mehre.

Bet this, Kirby Smart is far and away different than the coach that departed for Miami.

Sad way to start.

Buc if this dude is a UGA fan, that headline is a dumb one to post for recruiting.

Buc, heck yeah you have that right to ask me about my girls:) My family is your family!!!!!

She is now 10 and getting pretty serious about soccer. We moved her to a better soccer club because Berkley wanted to play in an advanced summer league that would build on her skills. Her previous club did not offer this summer league and so we told them we would go play over the summer and then come back to her own club when the fall season started (academy soccer is a fall and spring format and your summers are free so we didn't think it was a big deal to go do this. In fact, it was going to make her better for when she returned in the fall). Anyway, her club's director of coaching told me my 9 year old daughter at the time was not welcome back if she participated in this summer league. I commenced to tell him that until he is paying my daughter to play and also paying for her school, clothes, food, etc, that I would determined what she could do in her free time, not him. Told him to stuff it and my daughter, along with 30 of the best club soccer players at this particular academy from 10-16 years old, left for various clubs. It was the best decision we made. Her new coaches are wonderful and keep it fun (her old coaches were drill sergeants and I believe that is a little too rough for 9 year old girls). One thing I have learned about coaching youth boys and girls, boys will play for you if they respect and have healthy fear of you, little girls will play for you if they love you.

Even though she is a center defender for her team (in american football that is the equivalent of a Free Safety), she leads her team in scoring.

In a bit of Irony, we end our season dec 12/13th in Athens, Ga. at a tournament...

Her team is ranked #6 in the nation. (I know, who really knows at this age but Soccer in College uses a computer algorithm to ran teams in orderto get best match ups in tournaments).

Now, back to football. Loved how when he got down to specifics, "grown men" on the OL is the first thing he mentioned.

KS may be the next Saban or he may be a bust, but regardless, you and I and everyone on this site sure as heck knows he cares about UGA and we know he will get us stronger on the OL and DL.

Folks, beginning to think that there is something in the water at the AJC offices.

They really think that many or most of us that have been around not only UGA football, but football in general for years buy into the BS that they too often are allowed to release for "public consumption".

This is a new beginning for many of us, serious coaching.

Pouty and the rest will continue to explain the game of football to us. Cox needs to wake up, seems they go from bad to . . . . you select.

Outlar and Bisher, gone but not forgotten, the time and effort the two put in at the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

Kirby Smart will not be led or fooled by those representing themselves as knowledgeable sports reporters. Another lesson that he learned under the stewardship of Coach Nick Saban.

Change in a lot of places other than the coaching ranks needs to be made.

I received a clear vision on his offensive philosophy. Put the ball in your playmakers hands. Adapt to the talent you have and most of all you need grown men in the trenches and a lot of them. Seams pretty sound to me.

yeah... pretty dumb, that was

I think we do have an offensive philosophy though... Smart detailed it in his presser:

Go out and get great players and get the ball in their hands.

I don't say that flippantly... note that on top of saying there is not one area of this team where they don't need to get a lot better on depth, he also said he doesn't really want to marry himself to one single philosophy. He said pretty clearly that a
team needs to conform itself to the personnel and that there are times when you
want to run pro-style and times when you want to spread....

..mainly though... get great athletes and put the ball in the hands of those great athletes.

That sounds great by me, lol
