$7.5M check written out.
Good post wlayton. You are so right about "alternatives".
You and I both know that Foley "is" feeling the heat. Has the President in his corner, but . . . . some of those "large bull gators" with bottomless pockets have had enough. 7.5 million at this point will not prevent the hiring of McElwain.
Much going on in our conference, some will move forward, others had better take a closer look at what is "truly" going on. Know that you understand what I just typed.
This is the truth . . . . State of Florida is loaded to the gills with D1 players. Muschamp never got a grip on the "total" up hill battle he was facing when taking the head coaching job. One short statement . . . . urban "liar" meyer left a "Folsom Prison" attitude in Gainesville. To Muschamps credit, he did work hard to clean the program up, that was one of Jeremy Foley's first request when hiring Muschamp. Muschamp was not ready for what Gainesville, Florida actually looked like from the "inside".

36869, you were on target. If he had been the replacement needed in Athens, our head coach and defensive coordinator would both have coached under Saban. Much is said about Saban, truth is they are in the final four, top recruiting class in the nation. Something to be said about working with Nick.

The gators just got better. Better get your act together Mark Richt, the enemy just made a huge step forward.

It is believed that he wanted to meet with his team, staff etc before heading to Gainesville. Heard he was a 1st class individual that always puts others 1st, hence the delay.
Done deal only sticking point is working out the $7.5M.

Went back through the posts on the Jim McElwain subject. You were the first earlier to bring up McElwain's name as a replacement.
Kudos, you got it right. Now we have a "serious problem" facing us once again from the hated gators. Can only imagine McElwain with the talent that is available in the Sunshine State, and he is a "solid football coach". Ouch
