We seem to find a way to grab defeat out of the jaws of victory.
How much of that is CMR's personality?

I cannot help but think, we were lucky to beat Tn, Fl and Tech.

averagedawg, sometimes I think to myself that maybe I am saying too much about the coaching at UGA. Then I come to my senses and look at the results since 1980 or so.

Personally, don't think that too much unnecessary chatter has been handed out when I watch other teams and coaches.

Putting labels on recruiting classes is ok, don't recall Alabama ever doing that under the Bear or Saban. Personalities, both had them, and theirs certainly did/does not reflect our head coach and his temperment.

averagedawg, keeping my eyes on Louisville. If they get their program moving forward again, and end up doing things that we (UGA) have not done . . . . like Nick Saban did at Alabama, Gus Malzahn has done at Auburn, that will not be a happy day for me. I suspect for others, especially those that are Falcons on this board.

2014 Season should be a special year in Athens. Talent laden. New coaches, coach from a National Championship Team and his hand picked (I suspect) assistants. Early ratings have us around #8, but many think we are top ten. What are those numbers based on, players or coaches, or both?

Just play some of the talent, as many as can be played without losing. Couple of years ago we were discussing building depth. Looking at last season, and listening to what is being said so far this year, I see another huge change to our coaching ranks. Something went wrong. Maybe this time we got it right. Crap shoot.

Speaking to the Florida thingy . . . . a game that Muschamp has to win and he knows it. JAX will be a deciding factor again for Florida, just as it was in "part" for Georgia. We lost, almost the entire defensive staff was all but gone before returning home.

Just a hypothetical question, if we had finished 5-8 instead of 8-5, would Richt still be HC?

Good question.

I will start it off.

Do not believe that those in charge in Athens would have dismissed Richt. Richt is a bit like Brown was at Texas. Has a solid group around him.

I am with you, Buc.
Richt might have had to throw somebody under the bus but he keeps his job.

averagedawg, not that far away from Spring practice. Media will be all over every crumb they can get their hands on when practice starts. Notice now that nothing is coming out of Athens, even those with the passes have to wait for the group in Athens to open the gates again.

At some point, and I am telling you nothing, those of us out here without the passes will get a chance to sift through what is and what isn't. I keep much of what is said by those that run "our team", gives me a much clearer picture of what the truth is. You know, you are "informed".

Question for those that haven't given up. Some don't like reading both sides of this board. They get quiet, say things like . . . . it has been said many times before. Got news for some, unless "our" program gets turned around, there will be a lot said.

Why is it not right for me to ask the "same questions" over and over again if I don't get any answers?

Why do I hear that our quarterback position is set? Do coaches no longer look at those that are more talented? Playbook understanding . . . . we are not talking about IC at this point.

Why do we never have offensive linemen that can step in year after year?

Is it that we don't have the talent? Why don't we have the talent when we are one of the top five recruiting states in the country?

Is that our fault, why has this happened? Surely it cannot be blamed on a lack of support. Last numbers I looked at, UGA is in a strong position, much stronger than most colleges in the country.

There is a simple reason that the top players in the State of Georgia leave. The coaching for the past several years is much better elsewhere. Lost the top linebacker to urban meyer, what the hell is the excuse for that?

See that is the problem. Not just the coaches making excuses, supposed UGA supporters doing the same.

Put Saban/Smart in Athens, Richt and his previous hires in Tuscaloosa. Want to know what would happen? Richt and company would be looking for jobs elsewhere.

Just thoughts. Have many more. :)
