Not For Thin Skins . . . . Real Talk

Like I mentioned, I do like the pro style offense but I'm all for throwing a few wrinkles in as well to keep D's guessing and on their heels.

Ironically to me, not fully utilizing all our players is a great problem to have, means we have created depth. In my previous post I was simply stating that the offense isn't the phase that is holding us back...IMO.

Question to all.....last year, if we had FSU's D, do you think we would have been undefeated?

I do.

Hard to go without a loss in the SEC wlayton. But in answer to your question I would have to say no not because of the talent but because the coaches lack the "killer instinct" that is the intangible to going 12-0 and playing for the NC...

Maybe wlayton, but I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that an MR coached team will find a way to screw up at least one game a year... no matter what.

Not trying to be facetious either.... I honestly feel that way.

I don't, again because of the HC. Look at how many times FSU beat teams by 40, 50, 60 points and how many times we did, or have over the last several years. FSU was beating their conference rivals worse than we beat our 1-AA cream puffs, because Jimbo has a killer instinct and crushes teams and doesn't let off the gas and allow teams to fight back into games. Think FSU would have beaten North Texas 45-21? Or app st 45-6? richt would have screwed at least 2, if not 3 games up with FSU's defense.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

wlayton, think that your post above about us having FSU's defense sides up with what I am trying to get across.

I look at the numbers from the 2012 team and the talent on the 2013 team and while that was supposedly grantham's side of the ball, Richt was/is the head coach. You and I both know that folks in the upper level of business or sports which is a huge business, getting larger by the day, protect themselves any way they can.

I am not calling you out by any means. I am openly for the pro style offense. With that I say this, not everyone runs the pro style like AM did. Trying to say that the talent that is/was in Athens can and should allow more freedom. AM is gone, Hutson Mason could not take the job away from AM.

Johnny Football was allowed that freedom, think we know the results of that. He not only will play pro ball, he will be one of the first chosen, under 6 feet at that. What he did for TAM was put eyes on the program and young talent from all over want to play there.

Takes me back to a statement you made about Shockley many moons ago. You were basically saying then what I am saying now. Remember? I was in agreement with you then, just taking the same approach now. You asked the question, sort of a statement actually, why is Shockley not getting more reps. When Shockley took over, not only you, but several on this board were delighted. Talent should be allowed to show itself.

When I make the statement . . . . Richt stay out of the way, that is not to hurt him, it is in my opinion for the betterment of UGA football . . . . as a WHOLE. Yes he is a very good recruiter. Don't know how many more times that will be said. Richt's short coming in my opinion is a lack of leadership skills that produce the fire needed to win games in the first half. If he does not want to run the score up on teams, what a great time to allow some of the talent on the sideline to "build depth" by playing.

Until convinced otherwise, stand by the leadership thingy that I have mentioned more than once here.

Just a comment on the depth part of your post. That depth would be so much deeper if those with talent were allowed to play meaningful minutes. That comment could also go back to the Shockley days. Will always believe he should have played more minutes.

First one doesn't work at all and the second one means you are moving backwards because everyone else is moving forward.

BUMP!!

Eighty percent of the college coaches are against Saban's proposal of slowing the game down. NCAA looks at the numbers and even Nick Saban does not carry enough weight to get the rule changed.

What does that lead to? Nick Saban will make some changes in his pro style offense. Losing back to back to Auburn, that would not be looked on favorably in Tuscaloosa or the State of Alabama. No one knows that better than Nick Saban. Some changes are on the way and Kiffin will be a part of that.
