With all the weapons the new QB is going to have around him next year, all he has to be is a McIlroy (a game manager when he played at Bama). So, I'm not too concerned about the QB next year.....there are a few on this board that could run the offense next year with all that talent.

Agree with WD that it is more important to build on our OL.

I just wish we had the committment to depth on the O-line we seem to have for the QB position..

That has been a problem that many of us are aware of. Have always looked to the offensive and defensive lines with what little knowledge I have about the game of football. That falls squarely on the shoulders of those at the top.

Seems to me we were up on the offense, down on the defense, sound familiar this season? Or, up on the defense and down on the offense. At some point the folks that look at the recruiting board (everyday) have to come to a meeting of the minds at some point.

If we sign the players that have said they will move to Athens in 2014, it will be the most balanced group of recruits that I have seen in a while. There is room for disagreement on that statement, just appears that way to me.

We always seem to have several quarterbacks in Athens. There have been times in the recent past that I scratched my head wondering why that was the case. Not always going to have a player like AM that will take the beatings he has and continue to play, understand that also.

If we have a couple of quarterbacks on our roster that will never see the field, or seldom see the field, makes me "wish" we had used our recruiting numbers a different way. Also understand that you can never be sure when the quarterback will go down. Does that not also apply to offensive and defensive linemen? The strength and pace of todays college football games carry no guarantees on injuries.

Saban has had a quarterback running his team for a while now. Wonder why . . . . I know that he has a solid front that allows him to be what he is. Defense, check the Alabama/LSU game out this weekend, which I feel sure most will do. What prevents us from having the same type performances we will see Saturday night?

Supposedly we are armed with great recruiters. Won't get too much of a rise out of me on that. So, how does that play out year after year? Yes, came real close against Alabama, but . . . . won't bring up the close in horseshoes thingy.

If the group of coaches that we have now cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with Alabama, LSU (most of the time) and win consistently . . . . What is the answer? Our leadership has been in Athens since 2001, we have the Dean of SEC Coaches, after the Vanderbilt fiasco, most of my questions were answered.

Yes I do understand that we are not going to fire Mark Richt. Could it possibly be that Mark Richt has grown tired like Bobby Bowden did? Can we expect new life from our leader? Has he come upon a new elixir? Talent is there, has been for some time. What prevents us from being recognized as one of the top five football universities in the country?

If injuries are brought into the conversation, I say you need to focus on the "big picture". Again, every football team has injuries. Their name might not be Todd Gurley, but those that play for other universities are just as important to their team as Gurley is to ours.

Personally, was hoping to see some "magic" happen with this team, and if I was a betting man, would bet most of the players felt the same way at the beginning. Believe I have seen some lapses, but I don't put that on the players. That comes down to understanding your position and playing "your part" of team football. Can't give any free passes out at this time, getting long in the tooth, want to see some "magic" happen. That starts with the leader.

I understand completely that you never know when your QB will go down and out for a season, but you have to weigh the need for having 3 great ones as you wait for the possibility of an injury to just one of them as compared to your need for a deep and talented O-line.

Losing the QB and needing a 2nd is a hypothetical that may never happen. Losing 2 and needing a stud 3rd is so rare a situation it doesn't even warrant consideration. Hell, at that point the 3rd has probably had so little practice with the 1st team that you are screwed anyway. Needing a deep and talented O-line is an absolute irrefutable fact that plays out almost every Saturday.

Many have said we spend too much time recruiting skill and not enough time recruiting the foundation that allows
the skill to win. I wish someone on the coaching staff would realize that.

Buildings don't stand long on a weak foundation, no matter how pretty the above ground architecture.

Couldn't agree more about the use of scholarships and the error in realizing how important O-Lineman are. I do believe the coaching staff has learned. Seems they try to get in on every top O-lineman in the country. As they should.

The injuries. Sorry guys, but to say the injuries we have had aren't an excuse is just not accurate. No team could lose what we have. It is just not one player. I think we could have afforded to lose Gurley and Marshall more so than all the WR's. Is it a bad break? Sure. Does it mean I am going to let CMR off the hook? Nope. Still that whole Vandy thing. But really look at the extent of our injuries, and then go and take away any teams 2 leading rushers, there 4 best WR's. That offense is going to suffer. Don't care who it is. Take away Yeldon, Drake, Cooper, Jones, and bama's other 2 best WR's and see what they do? Hell, you take away Landry and Beckham and 2 others from LSU, along with Hill and I am betting they may never get a first down. Nobody has the depth to overcome those in this conference with half of it left.

Again, CMR was good for UGA overall, but the risk of missing out on Kirby is just not worth it to me. He is about the only realistic coach that I would take right now. Charlie Strong, I am still not totally sold on right now. Do agree he would start bringing in recruiting classes like we have never seen. Just not enough there for me with playing in Conference USA. I liked Patterson for awhile, but looks like he is slipping. Peterson as well.

Agree with bringing Kirby back home.
If Richt would follow his heart and let go of his stubbornness , it could happen.
However, we could be a day late and a dollar short.

Injuries are an excuse for some offensive struggles, but they are not an excuse for overall team performance that includes a bad defense and a special teams cluster ----. I even understand injuries on our O-starters can affect
who we now have on special teams, but no injuries have affected our snapper and punter. In addition to that, no matter how deep down the bench we had to go... nothing excuses our ST ranks in almost every category.

It's nice the staff may have now learned we actually need an O-line, but you don't just jump in and become O-line U
overnight. Had they that thought process years ago, things might be different today.
