Referees did just that with the entire game. Especially with the defensive backs. There were clear "violations" . . . . hitting too early, hidden arm wrapped, that sort of thing. Referees let both sides play the same way. I for one can live with that.
If you taped the game, take a peep.

wlayton, just watching the opposing coaches actions, could tell that there had been some conversation with the referees prior to kickoff. Wish there was more of that . . . . meaning having a understanding that if it is not flagrant, let the young men play football the way some on here have described the way "it used to be".
Tray Matthews is going to be all that. Written all over him. He was flying around against LSU, young man stays healthy, there is no limit.

think that was back to back plays or almost back to back, that is why it was called, ok once but not twice in such a short span.
Yes they did let them play very few penalties on both sides. Kept the flow of the game going on both sides of the ball. Really nice actually.

Reminds me of another hard hitting defensive player we had few years back, Tony Gilbert. Joe Kines said TG hit like a hammer. Hopefully TM will follow in the footsteps of Gilbert and Thomas Davis to name a few.
