This is an excellent thread. Have you ever noticed that when we agree/disagree on "x's and o's", it's a LOT more civil? I think it's because that's "fun talk". I'm not a big fan of debates over policy/management/religion (though I DID once start one of those - mea culpa). But I love the website the most because it's fun to talk about how to approach the GAME. Great idea for a thread, yd1! I LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL, I LOVE UGA, and I LOVE DAWGS.COM!

GATA! Make some orange juice this weekend - I like mine with the PULP BEATEN OUT OF IT!!!!

BTW - going back to post #3 in this thread - some may think the rules changes haven't hurt defenses in modern times, but I disagree. I did some research on why the penalty was still assessed in the Alabama/A&M game. IF the DB had made helmet to helmet contact, it would have been an ejection. Fair enough, and since he didn't, no ejection was needed. I'm okay with that. HOWEVER - the 15 yards was still assessed!!! And the reason was "excessive aggression"!!!!! EXCESSIVE AGGRESSION?! Isn't that was Erk Russell used to REQUIRE?!

So I know some may disagree with me on that - and that's fair too - but I will always believe that the "sissification" of defensive football is contributing to the abundance of scoring in football.

Watched most of the game THE GAME Georgia/LSU this a.m. Someone on this board made mention of Ray Drew's play in this game. Too lazy to look and give credit to that member.

Ray Drew finally understands and "wants" to play football. Many blogs have wondered about his lack of showing up. Brothers, he played a great game against LSU. Tennessee take note.

Tray Matthews, came close to two maybe three interceptions. Definitely plays like thriller describes in post #21.

Isn't that what Erk Russell used to REQUIRE?!

Erk said more than one time on the practice field, run through the man you are tackling. Saw some fine hits on Saturday.

Tennessee has a huge offensive line, supposed to be the strength of this years team. Personally, don't see how they can protect the quarterback against this front seven. Don't think that the color change will stop the onslaught. These young men are becoming "aware" of their talents.

Buc - from what I've been reading on the volnation.com website - their weak attempt at imitating this site - their QB is pathetic. Accuracy has been a problem, as has judgement. Even vol fans are expecting bad things from him. Add a good pass rush and guys like that fold, unlike ZM. Going back and watching the LSU game again, I was VERY impressed with Mettenberger - LOTS of poise! Our front 7 applied some pressure, and that kid responded. It was a great fireworks show. I don't think Worley is in Mettenberger's class, judging by vol fan comments.

If Mettenberger had watched his p's and q's, applied himself as AM did, would be far advanced at this point. Size and arm alone will get ZM into the NFL.

Game against Tennessee. Don't think we change a single thing from the LSU game. Let the young defense repeat with some corrections. We all know that stopping the run will be what makes Tennessee more or less come apart.

Leave the offense alone also. Play the same game, maybe some more pups get some playing time. Not saying don't play hard. Play hard, remove their spirit and build that depth through playing time.

Edit: Watched some of Jones' video after the game. He said that he is sticking with his quarterback. Has confidence in him. Throws a lot of interceptions, not always the quarterbacks fault.
