I apologize to you personally, but the religion thing pollutes issues. You are not right about football.
You CAN do both.....look no further than Tom Landry, Tony Dungy and many others.
Landry did not play preacher. This sounds like revisionist history. The cocaine fueled Cowboys hardly seem like a ringing endorsement. And Dungy failed in Tampa and then inherited a stacked team in Indy. I am unimpressed.
Btw, the reason the Jags didn't go after Tebow?......he can't play QB in the NFL. Do you think they would pass up Peyton Manning or Brady if they had the same beliefs as Tebow?.....think NOT.
It is not the beliefs. It is the irrational circus cult following Tebow has. If he started a game in Jax it would have taken forever and an act of congress to bench him if he sucked. Religion gets in the way of football decisions.
Whatever.....no need arguing, I feel I have a good understanding of priorities in life.
As do I. Coaching a D I team is not sunday school. Either Richt produces or he gets fired. He should be fired. Of course people who like him for non-football reasons will continue making excuses for his lack of production. Again religion getting in the way.

I'm wrong about sports and personal beliefs don't mix etc??
One question to you.....have you ever won a national championship in ANYTHING?? If not, maybe you aren't as qualified as you THINK you are in the matter.

Academics yes....................
You can continue to make excuses if you wish. The fact remains some people like Richt for non-football related reasons which clouds the picture. His job is to coach football. When the team is clearly poorly coached and lacking in discipline then he is responsible. Of course the religion based fans will tolerate incompetence more because he is their guy.

Not sure what you mean when you say "no one". I have been one of the Richt non-supporters over the years and here is my post from Saturday night:
As most of you know, I point out shortcomings when I see them, I also give out props when they are earned in my opinion, and I must give Richt and Bobo props today. For the first time in a while, I think coaching actually won this game for us. Love the onside kick, and going for it on 4th and 13, and bobo getting the ball to the edges quickly (did he read that somewhere). If they coach like that the rest of their careers, they might turn this team around some corners.
I "shout" when he coaches a bad one, as I also "praise him" for coaching a good one, as I have over the years.
edit--it's # 38 in the Georgia vs Chickens thread.
The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!
